Gold West Overview

Gold West is a Wild West video slot from Spadegaming, played on 5 reels and 4 rows with 1,024 ways to win. The published RTP is 96.75%, the volatility is rated medium, and the maximum win is 1,000x the stake. It was released on 12 September 2024.

Bets range from €0.20 to €500 per spin. The game is built for phones first – the demo runs in a tall portrait layout – and all the figures below were read from it at a €6 bet.

A Frontier Town

The reels sit on dark wooden planks under a steel sign with two crossed revolvers, a WILD counter in the middle and a 1024 WAYS badge on a boulder to the right. In the free spins the background changes to the inside of a saloon, with lanterns hanging from the beams.

The symbols are the classic Western kit: a cowgirl in a pink hat, a revolver in its holster, a pink cowboy hat, a pair of boots and a horseshoe, plus the card ranks A, K, Q and J carved in wood. The Wild is a gold sheriff’s star.

Shot Through with Bullets

Every win is announced with gunfire: the winning symbols glow and are riddled with bullet holes. SlotCatalog describes a cascade mechanic behind this – winning symbols are removed and new ones fall into their place, so one spin can pay more than once.

The Paytable

With four rows on each of the five reels, the grid offers 4×4×4×4×4 = 1,024 ways, and wins are paid for matching symbols on adjacent reels from the leftmost reel – their position within each reel does not matter. At a €6 bet the paytable reads, for five, four and three of a kind:

  • Cowgirl: €30.00, €18.00, €4.50 – five pay 5x the bet
  • Revolver: €24.00, €12.00, €3.00
  • Cowboy hat: €18.00, €6.00, €2.40
  • Boots: €12.00, €4.50, €1.80
  • Horseshoe: €6.00, €3.60, €1.50
  • A: €4.50, €3.00, €1.50 · K: €3.60, €2.40, €1.20
  • Q: €3.00, €1.50, €0.60 · J: €2.40, €1.20, €0.60

The single-way values are modest, but on 1,024 ways they multiply quickly. In one base-game spin pink hats landed on four reels with the sheriff’s star on the third, and the combined ways paid €24.00 – 4x the bet. In another, revolvers on the first three reels paid €6.00, exactly 1x.

The gap between the top and the bottom of the table is small. Five cowgirls pay 5x, while five of the best card, the A, pay 0.75x. That flat shape is typical of a medium-volatility ways game: many combinations are possible on every spin, and most of them return part of the stake rather than a large sum.

Wilds and Extra Wilds

The sheriff’s star substitutes for the regular symbols. According to SlotCatalog it appears on reels 2 to 5, and the game adds Extra Wilds: they are collected during play and turned into wilds placed on the reels on the following spin. The counter under the crossed revolvers keeps track – it read +1 in the base game and climbed to +2 and +3 during our free spins.

Choose Your Free Spins

Three scatters trigger the free spins, and before the round starts the game offers four WANTED posters to choose from:

  • 15 free spins, each beginning with 1 wild
  • 10 free spins, each beginning with 2 wilds
  • 5 free spins, each beginning with 3 wilds
  • a mystery poster with a random number of spins and wilds

A timer counts down while you decide. It is a classic trade-off between more spins and stronger spins, and any Extra Wild landed during the round is added to the guaranteed wilds for the spins that follow.

The choice matters more than it looks. Fifteen spins with one wild give the most chances to land Extra Wilds early and build the counter up, while five spins with three wilds start strong but leave little time for it to grow. The mystery poster hands the decision to chance.

Buying the Feature

The BUY FREE SPINS button sits right under the reels. At our €6 bet the price was €600.00 – 100x the stake – and the balance dropped from €1,939.10 to €1,339.10 when we accepted.

Our Bought Round

We picked 10 spins with 2 wilds. The early spins paid small amounts – €6.30 with seven spins left and a running total of €18.76, then €30.00 for a total of €57.90. Once the counter moved to +3 wilds the wins grew: €62.40 on one spin, with stars on four reels, and €46.80 on the next.

With one spin still to go the round stood at €225.08, about 37.5x the bet – well short of the 100x we paid. That is a useful reminder that a bought round is not a guaranteed return.

The captures also show why the counter matters: with two guaranteed wilds our wins stayed between €6 and €30, and with three they rose to €46.80 and €62.40.

Who Should Play It

Gold West suits players who like a clear, medium-volatility ways game with a choice in the bonus round. The 96.75% RTP is above average, and the 1,000x ceiling keeps expectations realistic. Players looking for huge multipliers will find the game modest.

The wide bet range helps too: at the minimum €0.20 the game is a cheap way to pass time, while at the €500 maximum the 1,000x ceiling is worth €500,000.
