Wilds & Gods Overview

Wilds & Gods is a video slot from SmartSoft Gaming, released on 25 January 2024. It is set among the temples of the ancient gods and plays on five reels and three rows. SmartSoft describes it as a game built around expanding wilds, free spins and a bonus buy, aimed at players who want quick action and high volatility.

About the Studio

SmartSoft Gaming is best known for JetX, the multiplayer crash game it launched in 2018, and much of its catalogue is made up of crash and instant games. Wilds & Gods is one of its classic video slots, and it shows that the studio can also build a traditional reel game with a strong theme. The game page also points to SmartSoft’s engagement tools, such as missions, prize drops and leaderboards, which casinos can use for promotions.

A Temple Above the Clouds

The reels sit inside a dark stone gateway. Grey marble columns stand on both sides, a stone eagle spreads its wings above the frame, and the golden Wilds & Gods logo shines in the centre of the arch. Glowing red eyes watch from the shadows at the bottom corners of the screen.

When the free spins start, the scene changes: the dark background opens up, and the reels float among thick white clouds. It is a simple but effective way to show that the player has reached the realm of the gods.

Symbols

The lower-paying symbols are the four card suits, carved as polished gems – a red crystal heart, a red diamond, and dark stone spades and clubs. The higher-paying symbols are the gods themselves: a white-bearded god in a red robe holding lightning, a green, snake-haired figure in the style of Medusa, a blue-haired goddess, and a fiery god with red hair and pink robes.

The wild is a golden W on a bronze shield. It stands in for the regular symbols to complete wins. In our first screenshot, two wilds on the middle reel joined lightning-marked lines across the screen, and the spin paid 75.00 on a 50.00 bet.

The Bonus Symbol

One of our screenshots shows the game’s tallest symbol: a white-bearded god in golden robes who fills the whole middle reel, with the word Bonus written at his feet. The label ties him to the bonus feature, and his full-reel appearance is hard to miss.

Free Spins and Expanding Wilds

When the bonus is triggered, a golden frame with angel wings appears and announces the award. In our round, the game gave 3 free spins. That may sound like a small number, but the feature is built for power rather than length.

During our free spins, the wilds took over the first three reels completely – nine W shields side by side. With wilds covering that much of the screen, every symbol that lands on the last two reels can complete a line. With two spins left, a Big Win of 2,500.00 (50x the bet) came in, and one spin later a Super Win of 3,250.00 (65x) followed. This matches SmartSoft’s own description of expanding wilds as the heart of the game.

Base Game Wins

The base game can pay well on its own. In one spin, red heart gems filled most of the screen and paid a Big Win of 1,512.50, or about 30x the bet. In another, the gods lined up on the fourth and fifth reels next to a wild and paid 162.50. Wins are shown with bright blue lightning bolts that trace the winning lines across the reels.

Buy Bonus

The Buy Bonus button sits on the left side of the screen, under two god portraits. It opens a menu with two options, each marked with a different god. At a bet of 50.00, the first cost 10,000.00 (200x the bet) and the second 7,500.00 (150x). The prices change with the bet, so the ratio stays the same. The two options suggest two different bonus versions, but the menu itself does not describe what each contains.

Controls

The large round button on the right carries the words Hold & Spin. Above it are a refresh button and a lightning icon for faster play, and below it a coin button for the bet. The balance, the current win and the bet are shown along the bottom of the screen, and the menu opens from the bottom-left corner. Our demo ran in the DMO test currency.

Who Will Enjoy It

Wilds & Gods suits players who like mythology slots and do not mind waiting for the big moments. With high volatility and only a few free spins per round, the results can swing a lot, but the expanding wilds give each spin in the feature real weight. The two Buy Bonus options are there for those who would rather skip the wait.

Our Verdict

Wilds & Gods is a compact, well-made slot. The dark temple and the switch to the clouds look good, the full-reel bonus god is easy to spot, and the free spins with three reels of wilds can pay out quickly. It would be good to see SmartSoft publish more details, such as the maximum win and the number of lines. Until then, the free demo above is the best way to judge the game for yourself.
