Songkran Party Overview

Songkran Party is a festival-themed video slot from SimplePlay, released on 26 February 2024. It celebrates Songkran, the Thai New Year, when the streets turn into one big water fight every April. The reels sit in the middle of a busy Thai street lined with shop signs, where locals and tourists soak each other with water guns and buckets. The game plays on a 5x4 grid with 50 paylines, and its main attraction is a set of stacked wilds with multipliers on the middle reels.

The RTP is 97%. SlotCatalog does not give a variance rating, and no official maximum win has been published.

Rules and Betting

All symbols pay left to right on adjacent reels from the leftmost reel, except the scatter. Only the highest win on each lit line is paid, and wins occur only on the selected lines – with the exception of the scatter, which pays anywhere in view. Line wins are multiplied by the line bet, while scatter wins are multiplied by the total bet and added to the line wins.

The bottom bar holds the Coin, Lines and Line Bet selectors. With a coin of 0.01, 50 lines and a line bet of 10, as in our screenshots, the total bet is 5.00. The Total Bet and Win readouts, a Max Bet button, the spin button and Auto Play complete the controls.

Paytable

The girl with the water gun is the top regular symbol, paying 300 for five, 100 for four and 60 for three. The frangipani flowers pay 250, 100 and 60. The tuk-tuk and the pink water gun both pay 200, 80 and 50, and the flip-flops and the patterned swim shorts pay 150, 60 and 40.

The card ranks are generous for low symbols. A and K pay 100, 50 and 30; Q and J pay 80, 40 and 20; 10 and 9 pay 60, 35 and 15. Even three-of-a-kind combinations of the lowest symbols pay back something, which keeps the base game ticking over.

Stacked Wilds on Reels 2 to 4

The wild in Songkran Party is not a single symbol but a whole stacked wild. According to SlotCatalog, stacked wilds light up on reels 2 to 4. In our screenshots they first appear as tall panels with dark silhouettes of the festival-goers, covering most or all of a reel, and several of them can land in the same spin. With two stacked wilds in view, one spin returned 16.00 and another 22.50 on a 5.00 bet.

A single panel can be enough, too. In another spin one stacked wild on reel 2 connected the pink water guns on reels 1 and 3 across several lines, for a 20.00 win – four times the stake. Because the grid has four rows and 50 lines, a full-height wild in the middle of the reels sits on a large share of the paylines at once.

Wild Multiplier

When a stacked wild is revealed, it can carry a random multiplier of up to 3x, as SlotCatalog describes. One of our screenshots shows a revealed wild – a girl in a red floral outfit holding a water gun – with an x2 badge at the bottom of the reel. The status bar read “Line 49 … pays 10.00 X 2”, and the total win of that spin was 124.00 on a 5.00 bet, or almost 25 times the stake. Since the multiplier applies to every line running through the wild, a single revealed wild with a good multiplier can boost many lines at once.

Elephant Scatter

The decorated elephant, garlanded with flowers, is the scatter. It pays anywhere on the screen, and its wins are multiplied by the total bet rather than the line bet. In our screenshot three elephants landed on the reels, and the status bar announced “win Free Game Feature”.

Free Game Feature and Wild Nudge

The free games add the Wild Nudge Feature. According to SlotCatalog, wilds that land partly in view nudge up or down to cover the entire reel, and this activates the Stacked Wild Multiplier for bigger payouts. With the stacked wilds limited to the middle three reels, a round in which two or three of them are nudged into full position is where the large wins come from.

Jackpot Display

As in other SimplePlay slots, a panel in the top right corner shows three jackpot tiers – Major, Minor and Mini – with running values. The amounts change constantly, so check the panel in the game for the current figures.

Graphics and Sound

Songkran Party has one of the liveliest backgrounds in SimplePlay’s catalogue. The reels are framed by a street scene full of shop signs and people with water guns on both sides, and green water tanks marked “50 LINES” stand on either side of the grid. The symbols are bright and cartoon-like against a dark blue background, which makes the wild panels stand out well when they drop in.

Wins are shown in large gold numbers over the reels, and the status bar at the bottom explains each payout line by line.

Songkran Party is a cheerful, easy-to-follow slot.
