Clown Coins Overview

Clown Coins is a circus-themed slot from Onlyplay, released on 17 April 2024. It plays on a compact 3x3 grid with 5 fixed lines, and it combines a short paytable with a coin feature and three fixed jackpots.

SlotCatalog lists an RTP of 95%, medium volatility, a hit frequency of 12.8% and a maximum win of 4,103x the bet, with stakes from 1 to 50. All figures below come from our demo session at a bet of 50 USD.

Under the Big Top

The grid is framed by a ring of carnival lights, with a carousel, a Ferris wheel and striped circus tents in the background. On the left, three jackpot plaques show the prizes for the current bet, and the words “5 LINES” are printed on both sides of the reels.

The symbols are a cast of circus performers. The jester and the green-haired clown are the top pays, followed by the clown in the red top hat and a juggler. The low symbols are a clown in a vintage car, a clown with balloons and a clown riding a pig. A green-haired clown on a purple ticket marked “WILD” is the wild, and gold clown coins carry cash values.

Five Lines on a 3x3 Grid

The lines screen shows all five paths: the three horizontal rows and the two diagonals. The game notes that “All lines are played”, so there is nothing to select – every spin covers the full set.

On a grid this small, the middle position sits on three lines at once – the middle row and both diagonals – which is why a wild in the centre is the most valuable place for it to land.

The Paytable

Every symbol needs three of a kind on a line, and the paytable prints the prizes as multiples of the bet. The jester pays 30x for three, the green-haired clown 20x, and the red top-hat clown and the juggler 10x each. The car, the balloon clown and the pig rider pay 2x.

Our session matched those values line by line. Three green-haired clowns across the bottom row, with the wild in the middle, paid 1,000 USD – exactly 20x the 50 USD bet – and the game marked it as a BIG WIN: the grid faded and the amount appeared in carnival-light digits across the whole screen. Three red top-hat clowns in the middle row, again completed by a central wild, paid 500 USD (10x).

The low symbols add up across lines. Balloon clowns on two lines – the middle row and a diagonal – paid 200 USD, or 2x per line, and a later spin of balloon clowns with a wild in the bottom centre returned 300 USD.

The Paytable in Cash

At our 50 USD bet the line prizes are easy to work out. Three jesters on a line are worth 1,500 USD, three green-haired clowns 1,000 USD, three top-hat clowns or jugglers 500 USD, and a line of any of the three low symbols 100 USD.

Because all five lines are always active, a screen covered with a single premium symbol pays on every line at once. Five lines of jesters would add up to 150x the bet, which is still well below the Grand jackpot – another sign that the coin feature, not the paytable, decides the big results.

The Wild in Practice

In every capture where the wild appeared, it sat on the middle reel, and each time it completed a line between two matching symbols on the outer reels. That is the pattern behind both of the big line wins in our session: the 1,000 USD green-clown line on the bottom row and the 500 USD top-hat line in the middle row.

A wild in the very centre of the grid is the strongest case, because it touches the middle row and both diagonals at the same time.

The Coin Feature

The gold clown coins carry cash values printed on them, such as 100, 250 and 500. When coins land together with a treasure chest, the game switches to a respin round: the button on the right changes to a counter showing 3 respins, and the coins stay on the grid while the remaining positions spin again.

In our round two coins worth 100 and 250 were collected with the chest, and the total of 350 USD (7x) was displayed across the grid. SlotCatalog lists this as a hold and win feature with bonus symbols and fixed jackpots.

Coins also turn up during ordinary spins. In the capture of our 1,000 USD line win, a coin worth 500 sat in the top-right corner of the grid, but without a chest beside it the respins did not start and the spin paid only its line win.

Three Fixed Jackpots

The plaques on the left show the jackpots in cash for the current bet. At 50 USD they read MINI 1,250, MAJOR 7,500 and GRAND 50,000 – that is 25x, 150x and 1,000x the bet. They are fixed multiples, so they scale up and down with the stake rather than growing over time.

The Grand is not the game’s ceiling. The published maximum of 4,103x suggests that the top jackpot can combine with coin values in the same feature round.

The Controls

The control bar runs along the bottom of the screen. The balance, the current win and the bet are shown side by side, and the bet is changed with the minus and plus buttons around it. A large green button on the right spins the reels, with a MAX BET button below it. The information and menu buttons sit in the bottom-left corner, and the sound and autoplay controls are on the right-hand edge.

The bet runs from 1 to 50. At the lowest stake the three jackpots are worth 25, 150 and 1,000 in cash; at the top stake the Grand reaches 50,000.

The Numbers to Keep in Mind

An RTP of 95% is below the market average of around 96%, and it is worth knowing before you play. The hit frequency of 12.8% means a winning spin roughly once in eight, which fits a game where most of the value sits in a few symbols and the coin feature.

The line wins themselves are modest – the best combination pays 30x – so the coins and the jackpots are what give the game its range.

Who Should Play It

Clown Coins suits players who like simple, fast slots with a single bonus feature. The 3x3 grid is easy to read, the five lines are always active, and the jackpot plaques show exactly what the feature can pay at your stake.
