Space Horror Overview

Space Horror is a compact sci-fi slot from Onlyplay, released on 27 June 2024. It plays on a 3x3 grid with 5 fixed paylines, and its main attraction is a bonus game with three fixed jackpots printed beside the reels.

Onlyplay lists an RTP of 95.00%, medium volatility and a maximum win of 4,103x the bet; SlotCatalog gives the same figures and stakes from $1 to $50. All the numbers below come from our demo session, played at a bet of 50 USD.

Aliens, Robots and Warships

The reels hang in the hull of a spaceship lit in violet and magenta, with a giant alien silhouette looming behind the frame. Two glowing pillars on either side of the grid read 5 LINES, and the three jackpot planets sit in a column on the left.

The symbols follow the theme closely. The top of the table belongs to a red horned alien, a yellow combat robot and a green alien creature. Below them come four warships in green, yellow, blue and red, and an armoured space marine carries the WILD label.

The controls are kept to a minimum. Balance, win and bet fields sit under the reels, with plus and minus buttons for the stake, while a round spin button and a MAX BET button stand on the right-hand panel.

Five Lines on a 3x3 Grid

The lines page shows the whole structure at a glance: the three rows and the two diagonals. All five lines are always played, so the only decision is the stake. With just three reels, a win needs three matching symbols from left to right across one of those lines.

That makes the game very easy to read. Every winning spin in our captures was a single row or diagonal filled with one symbol, or two symbols joined by a wild.

The Paytable

The symbols page prints every prize as a multiple of the total bet, and our session confirmed the scale exactly. Three red aliens pay 30x, three robots 20x, and the green alien and the green warship 10x each. The yellow, blue and red warships pay 2x.

At our 50 USD bet that meant 1,500 for the red alien, 1,000 for the robot, 500 for the green pair and 100 for any of the three small ships. There is no two-of-a-kind prize; three on a line is the only combination.

Because a full screen of one symbol covers all five lines, the table also shows what the biggest line result could be: nine red aliens would pay 5 × 30x = 150x, and nine robots 100x. That is our own calculation from the printed prizes, not a figure the game displays.

The Wild

The space marine is the wild. In one of our spins two wilds landed on the top row next to a yellow robot, and the game paid the robot line in full: 1,000 USD, the same 20x as three robots. The wild does not have a prize of its own in the table, so its job is simply to complete lines.

The Bonus Game and Its Jackpots

The intro screen explains the feature. The bonus game always starts with three bonus symbols, which are glowing planets. Some carry a cash value such as 5, others carry a jackpot label. The jackpot panel lists GRAND x1000, MAJOR x150 and MINI x25.

These prizes scale with the bet. At 50 USD the plaques on the left of the reels read GRAND 50,000, MAJOR 7,500 and MINI 1,250 – exactly 1,000x, 150x and 25x. SlotCatalog describes the round as Hold and Win. The GRAND alone is 1,000x, so reaching the published 4,103x ceiling needs the jackpots and the cash planets to add up in the same round.

Bonus planets can also land during normal spins. In one of our base-game captures a planet carrying the value 50 – exactly our bet – sat at the top of the third reel, while the main win came from green aliens on the diagonal.

Stakes and Jackpot Sizes

With stakes from $1 to $50, the jackpots move a long way. At the minimum bet the GRAND is worth $1,000 and the MINI $25; at the maximum they reach $50,000 and $1,250. Because every prize is tied to the bet, the percentages stay the same whatever stake you choose.

What Our Session Showed

The base game paid small and often in our captures. A line of blue warships returned 100 USD (2x), and two lines of them in one spin paid 200 USD (4x). Three green aliens on a line brought 500 USD (10x).

The best result was a row of three yellow robots across the middle line, worth 1,000 USD or 20x the bet. We did not trigger the bonus game in the session, so its payouts above come from the game’s own panels rather than from a round we played.

Volatility and Return

The intro screen carries a small volatility gauge with five marks, three of them lit – the same medium rating Onlyplay publishes. A 95.00% return is below the average for modern slots, and worth knowing before a long session.

The game makes up for that with transparency: every prize is printed as a clear multiple of the bet, and the three jackpots show their current cash value next to the reels all the time.

Who Should Play It

Space Horror suits players who like a quick, simple slot with a clear target. Five lines on nine positions and a table of seven symbols can be learned in a minute, and the bonus game gives the session a real goal. Fans of big feature-heavy video slots will find it short on mechanics.
