A Marble Hall, and Then It Burns

The base game is cool and grey: a colonnaded temple interior in blue-white marble, with the reels standing between the pillars in a thin silver frame.

When the feature triggers the whole setting changes. The columns crack, the sky behind turns to fire and red cloud, and the frame goes from silver to burnt bronze. It is a genuine change of scene rather than a colour filter.

The cast is the Olympian one, painted rather than cartooned: Zeus, a red-haired warrior, Poseidon with his trident, two goddesses, and beneath them a helmet, a pair of crossed swords and an amphora.

The Paytable Has a Very Tall Top

The rules screen prints the table against a 0.90 total bet, which makes the ratios easy to read.

Zeus pays 150.00 for five – roughly 167x the stake – with 15.00 for four and 1.50 for three.

Below him the red-haired warrior pays 30.00 for five (about 33x), Poseidon 15.00 (about 17x), the green goddess 7.50 (about 8x) and the purple goddess 3.00 (about 3x).

The three object symbols sit under 1.00 for a full line – around the stake itself or below it.

So the ladder is unusually steep at the top and unusually flat at the bottom. Zeus is worth five times the next symbol down and more than a hundred and fifty times the cheapest. On most games the top symbol is two or three times the second; here it is five.

The wild’s own line states the one restriction that matters: it substitutes for all symbols except Cataclysm and Unleash Fury – the two feature symbols.

The feature symbol is a flaming skull marked CATACLYSM, and it is large – it burns across a reel position rather than sitting inside one.

One capture shows three of them on the grid at once, on the second, third and fifth reels, with the fire already spreading out from each.

Three tickets spanning fifty-six to two hundred and seventy times the stake is a wide range, and the ordering tells you something before you spend anything: the studio prices Stone Wilds at nearly five times Cataclysm.

What the Reels Paid

The captured base-game wins read 100.00 and 140.00 at the 120.00 bet – that is 0.83x and 1.17x.

Both came from lines of the cheaper symbols, with a wild helping in each: crossed swords and amphorae in one, a run of helmets and swords in the other.

Neither is remarkable, and that is the point worth making. At 97.56% a game gives back nearly everything over time, but it does so in small pieces – a high return is not the same thing as a big win.

The art deserves a mention too – the switch from cold marble to burning ruin when Cataclysm lands is one of the better feature transitions we have seen.

The reservations are the missing volatility and maximum win figures, a paytable where three of eight symbols pay around the stake for a full line, and buy prices reaching 272x on a game whose ceiling is not published anywhere.
