How we rate games

Every slot is scored on the same four criteria, using the game's published data: RTP (40%), maximum win potential (25%), bonus features described in our review (30%) and how recent the release is (5%). Missing data counts as neutral. The score reflects the game's numbers and features, not your chances of winning; slots are games of chance, so please play responsibly.

Triple Nugget Trail Hold and Win is a Gold Rush slot from Kalamba Games, released on 1 October 2026. A grizzled old miner with a pickaxe leans over a wooden mine frame, three loaded carts sit above the reels, and the nuggets, gems and shovels of the grid are lit by warm lantern light. It plays on 5 reels and 3 rows with 20 paylines. The RTP is 96.45%, the volatility is high and the maximum win is 14,500x the bet.

Down In The Mine

The base game uses a fresh set of symbols: a shovel, a miner portrait, the numbers 10, Q, K and A in stone-carved letters, and big gold nuggets in the shape of gems. Four red chain plates on the left of the grid list the cashpot prizes, and the three carts above the reels carry the names Treasure, Collect and Double Up. The Wild appears on reels 2 to 5 and replaces everything except the Hold and Win symbols. Kalamba’s data puts the hit frequency at 37.2%, which is high for a game with such a large top prize.

Four Nugget Types

The Hold and Win symbols are nuggets, and each type has its own home reel in the base game:

  • Standard nuggets (reels 1 and 5) carry a cash value of 0.5x, 0.8x, 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, 3x or 4x the bet;
  • Treasure nuggets (reel 2) trigger a cashpot of 5x, 10x, 20x or 100x the bet;
  • Collect nuggets (reel 3) take the combined value of all other Hold and Win symbols in view;
  • Double Up nuggets (reel 4) multiply the values of all the others by 2.

The special nuggets also work for the spin that started the bonus, so a Collect or Double Up nugget in the trigger is never wasted.

The line game follows the usual rules: wins are paid from left to right, and the best combination on each of the 20 lines is the one that counts. The wins from different lines are added together, and scatter pays, which are prizes for symbols in any position, are paid for the highest matching count of each symbol. Bets run from 0.10 up to 60 per spin, set with the bet selector at the bottom right of the screen, and a quick press of the spin button stops the reels at once.

Digging Into The Bonus

Three or more Hold and Win symbols of any type, in any position, start the Hold and Win Bonus with 3 spins. It is a Hold and Spin style round: the triggering nuggets lock, each new nugget locks as well, and every new lock resets the counter to three. The round continues until no new nugget lands in three spins, or until the whole grid is locked. A full grid pays 1,000x the bet, and the demo plate next to the grid shows this prize as 2,000 on a 2.00 bet.

The order of the nuggets is important. A Double Up that lands before a pile of Collect nuggets doubles a smaller total, while the same Double Up after the others multiplies the values already on the board. The Treasure nugget works as a surprise: when it lands, one of four cashpots is picked at random and attached to it.

The three carts above the reels are more than decoration. They show which of the special features is active in a round, and in the demo they were lit up in turn as the Treasure and Collect nuggets did their work. A fully lit set of three carts is the best case, and it is exactly what the most expensive buy option promises from the start.

Three Buy Options

The BuyBonus menu offers three levels, and each one sets the number of starting nuggets and the number of active features:

  • 1 active feature and 3 Hold and Win symbols for 45 times the bet (90.00 at a 2.00 bet);
  • 2 active features and 4 symbols for 60 times the bet (120.00);
  • all 3 features and 5 symbols for 87 times the bet (174.00).

The in-game rules show the buy payout as 94.17%, 94.24% and 94.39% for the three levels, while the base game is listed at 93.83%. The demo build therefore quotes lower values than the 96.45% reported for the game at launch, so the figure in your casino may differ.

What A Bought Round Looks Like

In the demo, the middle option was chosen, and the game answered with a screen that said 3 Hold and Win spins awarded and 2 features activated, with the Collect and Treasure carts. Gold nuggets worth 1, 1.6, 2 and 3 appeared next to a red gem with 10.00, a blue gem with 13.60 and a red gem with 40.00. During the round, the animated counter went through a Big Win of 52.11 and a Super Win of 110.77, and the final screen showed 135.20 on a 2.00 base bet, which is 67.6 times the stake and more than the 120.00 purchase price.

Bets And Rules

Line wins are calculated from left to right, only one combination is paid on each line, and wins from different lines are added together. The menu in the corner opens the paytable and the rules, and the turbo and sound options can be toggled there too. During a bought round, the prizes are based on the bet that was on the screen before you started it.

Who Will Like It

Triple Nugget Trail is a strong choice for players who like Hold and Win games with real variation, because each of the three cart features changes the way the nuggets are paid. The high volatility and the 14,500x maximum make it a game for patient players with a clear budget. The buy menu helps those who want to see the feature immediately, and the 20-line base game with a high hit rate keeps the waiting time short.
