Goalinko Overview

A Pitch Full of Pegs

The balls start behind the goal at the top of the screen and bounce down the length of the pitch, past the penalty areas and the centre circle, until each one drops into a pocket. A player in national colours stands on the left, and every round is presented as a match: our captures showed Gabon against Angola and Brazil against France, with the flags stacked on the right.

The Multiplier Pockets

Nine numbered pockets run along the bottom, flanked by a yellow lightning pocket at each end. The values are symmetrical and highest at the edges. In the Gabon–Angola round they read x5, x1.4, x1.2, x0.6, x0.2 in the middle, then back up to x5. In the Brazil–France round the edges were higher and the inner pockets lower: x7.6, x1.8, x1.2, x0.4, x0.2.

The two orange pockets next to the outer ones carry a circular-arrow icon, and the lightning pockets at the very ends are not explained on screen. We did not see a ball land in either kind, so we leave their exact effect open.

Balls, Stake and Risk

The right-hand panel sets the bet per ball and the number of balls, and the total bet is simply the two multiplied together. On the left, a gauge with three flames sets the risk; in our session two of the three flames were lit. A drum above it showed the values 20, 100 and 50 in one round and 20, 150 and 50 in the other, changing together with the pocket values, but the game does not label it.

What the Session Did

Our first round started from a balance of 1,000.00. Ten balls cost 125.00, and the round returned a total win of 220.00, taking the balance to 1,095.00 – about 1.76x the total bet. The next round was still running at 102.50 with several balls on the pitch.

That is the nature of the game: most balls settle in the middle, where x0.2 to x0.6 give part of the stake back, and the result of a round depends on how many reach the outer pockets.
