Laughing Buddha Overview

Laughing Buddha is an Oriental-themed video slot from Eurasian Gaming, released on 8 November 2024. It is a classic 5-reel, 3-row machine with 25 fixed paylines, and SlotCatalog lists a betting range from 0.20 to 100 per spin. The feature set is compact: a scatter-triggered free spins round, a wild symbol chosen before the bonus, a Power Play menu with a Buy Bonus and a Fast-Play option, and, according to SlotCatalog, a gamble feature for your wins.

The reels sit inside a red temple gate with a curved tiled roof, framed by pink cherry trees and lanterns glowing in a sunset sky. Above the grid, the smiling Buddha of the logo holds a gold ingot, and the same cheerful figure returns on the reels as the scatter.

The premium symbols are lucky charms from Chinese tradition: a pink lotus flower, a jade money toad sitting on coins, a red envelope, a string of prayer beads and a gourd. The low symbols are the letters A, K, Q and J, drawn in red, orange, blue and green inside round gold frames.

Paylines and Bet

Wins pay on 25 lines from the leftmost reel, and the stake is set as a bet per line: 4.00 per line gave our 100.00 total bet. The paytable is shown in the same currency, so every value below scales directly with the line bet you choose.

The Paytable

At our stake the lotus is the top regular symbol, paying 4,000 for five, 2,000 for four and 400 for three – five lotus flowers on a line are therefore worth 40x the total bet. The money toad pays 3,000, 1,000 and 300.

The red envelope, the beads and the gourd share a line of 2,000, 1,000 and 200. Among the letters, the A pays 1,000, 600 and 200, the K 800, 600 and 100, and the Q and J each 800, 500 and 100. Our first capture shows three red envelopes on a line paying exactly 200.00, which matches the table.

What the Values Mean in Multiples

Converted to multiples of the total bet, the picture is easy to read. Five money toads are worth 30x the stake, five envelopes, beads or gourds 20x, five As 10x and five Ks, Qs or Js 8x. Three of a kind pays between 1x and 4x, so the typical base-game hit returns the stake or a little more, and the bigger values need four or five symbols on the same line.

The four-of-a-kind values are generous for the letters: a line of four Qs or Js returns 5x the stake, which is why the wild envelope in the free spins made such a difference in our session.

The Buddha Scatter

The laughing Buddha holding his gold ingot is the scatter, and in our captures it only landed on reels 1, 3 and 5. Three of them paid 200.00 – 2x the stake – and triggered the free spins with a “Freespins Bonus!” banner.

Gold Ingots and the Wild

Before the free spins begin, a separate screen appears: the Buddha sits above five columns marked with the lotus, the toad, the envelope, the beads and the gourd, and gold ingots rain down into them. In our capture the counter read “6 Collected So Far”.

The game’s help screens were not part of our captures, so we cannot describe the exact rule. What we saw is that the round then opened with a banner at the top of the screen showing the red envelope “Is Wild”, so the ingot screen appears to decide which premium symbol turns wild for the free spins.

The Free Spins

With the envelope acting as wild, ordinary lines filled up much more easily. One spin paid 500.00 for four Qs, completed by a wild envelope, and the win counter had reached 2,072.33 by the end of our captures – about 20x the stake.

It is worth remembering that the chosen wild changes the paytable for the whole round. With the envelope wild, any line of letters or charms can be completed from one extra symbol, so lines of four and five become far more common than in the base game, and a wild covering a whole row of positions can feed several of the 25 lines at once.

Power Play: Buy Bonus and Fast Play

The Power Play menu offers the same two options as other recent Eurasian Gaming slots. The Buy-Bonus Feature sends you straight into the bonus on the next spin for a fixed price. The Fast-Play Feature plays a chosen number of rounds automatically and shows the combined result, stopping as soon as a bonus is triggered so you can play it yourself.

In our Fast-Play run of 25 rounds the game staked 2,500.00, returned 1,400.00 and then stopped because it had entered a bonus.

SlotCatalog lists a risk or gamble feature among the game’s functions, in which a win can be staked again for a chance to increase it. It did not appear in our screenshots, so we cannot describe its exact form; like every gamble, it is optional, and you can always collect a win instead.

The Fast-Play numbers above also show how the menu works in practice: it is a quick way to play many base-game rounds, not a guaranteed return, and the running total can be negative when it stops.
