Gold of Minos OverviewGold of Minos is a Greek-myth slot from BGaming, released on 6 June 2024 according to the studio (SlotCatalog lists 4 June). It plays on 5 reels and 3 rows with 243 ways to win, and everything revolves around one symbol: the Minotaur, an expanding wild that starts a round of respins with a multiplier that doubles every time a respin misses. BGaming gives the game an RTP of 96%, medium-high volatility and a maximum multiplier of 15,360x the bet, with stakes from $0.10 to $16. The numbers below come from our own demo session, played at a total bet of 10.00 FUN. Inside the Labyrinth TempleThe reels sit inside a gold Greek-key frame, flanked by stone columns in a dim temple hall, with the golden Gold of Minos logo above. The high symbols tell the legend: the golden-haired hero Theseus, the red-haired Ariadne, a crested Spartan helmet and a shield with a spear. Below them come a golden ball of thread – Ariadne’s clue out of the maze – and the letters A, K, Q and J cut from gold. Winning symbols light up in gold frames and the amount appears in a plaque in the middle of the grid. A Buy Bonus stone hangs on the left of the reels. The PaytableThe paytable is printed in cash for the current bet. At 10.00 FUN, Theseus pays 25.00, 60.00 and 150.00 for three, four and five of a kind – five of them are worth 15x the bet. Ariadne pays 20.00, 50.00 and 120.00, the helmet 10.00, 30.00 and 60.00, and the shield 10.00, 25.00 and 50.00. The ball of thread and the A pay 15.00 for five, the K 12.50, and the Q and J 10.00 each. The rules page explains the 243 ways: matching symbols anywhere on adjoining reels from the left form a win, and only the longest combination for each symbol is paid. What the Base Game PaidOur base-game captures show how the ways system adds up. A spread of J symbols across the first reels paid 24.00 (2.4x). Balls of thread on four reels, several of them stacked, paid 75.00 (7.5x) because every extra position multiplies the number of ways. The best line-up was a group of Theseus symbols across the grid, which paid 150.00 – 15x the bet. Over the whole session the balance moved between roughly 614 and 1,115 FUN on the 10.00 bet. That range says a lot about the game: the base game hands out small and medium wins at a steady pace, while the swings come from the Minotaur feature and from bonus buys. The bet-ways page also shows what does not count. A symbol that skips a reel breaks the chain, so three Theseus symbols on reels 1, 2 and 4 pay nothing; the matching symbols have to sit on adjoining reels starting from the far left. The Minotaur WildThe Minotaur is the game’s wild, and it does not arrive as a single tile. When he lands he expands to fill the whole reel, standing over the reel from top to bottom with his axe. In one of our captures he covered the fourth reel, and the Theseus symbols around him turned into a win worth 240.00. Respins With a Doubling MultiplierThe Minotaur’s arrival also triggers the bonus game of respins. A RESPIN – click to start banner appears, the other reels turn to stone, and a multiplier bar runs across the top of the screen from x1 to x1,024. BGaming explains the rule: the respins continue until a winning combination lands, and each respin without a win doubles the multiplier – x2, x4, x8 and so on up to x1,024. In our round the bar had already climbed to x4 when the win came, and the total win for the feature stood at 240.00 FUN, 24x the bet. That makes the feature a game of patience. A quick win ends the round at a small multiplier, while a long run of empty respins is exactly what builds the big one. Where the 15,360x Comes FromThe published maximum follows directly from the paytable. The best symbol, five Theseus, pays 15x the bet, and the respin multiplier tops out at x1,024. Multiply the two and you get 15,360x – the game’s ceiling. BGaming quotes the same figure as a maximum win of €245,760 at the highest stake. Three Ways to Buy the BonusThe Buy Bonus menu offers three stones, each placing the Minotaur on a different part of the grid: bonus on reels 1–3, bonus on reel 4 and bonus on reel 5. As we read the price tags at a 10.00 FUN bet, they cost 200.00, 500.00 and 2,000.00 FUN – 20x, 50x and 200x the bet. BGaming says that the higher the reel, the larger the potential payout, which fits the prices: a wild further to the right completes fewer ways by itself but leaves the multiplier more room to grow. RTP and VolatilityBGaming’s own spec sheet also lists a hit rate of 6%, without saying whether that refers to every win or only to the feature. A 96% return sits at the market average, and the medium-high volatility shows in the structure: base-game wins are modest, and the real money sits in the respin feature and its doubling multiplier. Who Should Play ItGold of Minos suits players who like a single, easy-to-follow feature with a lot of upside. There are no free spins to learn – just one wild, one respin round and one multiplier bar – and the three bonus-buy tiers let you choose how aggressive a session should be. Players who prefer long free-spin rounds with collectable features may find it too simple, but anyone who enjoys watching a multiplier climb will feel at home in the labyrinth.
