Trickstar Spins Overview

Trickstar Spins is a compact 3x3 slot from Yggdrasil with five paylines, a medium volatility rating, a published maximum win of 800x the bet and an RTP of 94% in its default setting. It was released on 23 January 2025.

The game carries RTP ranges, so the figure an operator runs may differ from the 94% quoted here – the in-game information panel at the casino is the place to confirm it. The published hit frequency is 25, which fits the steady rhythm we saw in the demo: small wins arrive often, and nothing about the base game is built to swing a balance violently.

Bets run from 0.10 to 100 per spin. Every figure quoted below was read from our demo session at a €100 bet, which makes the arithmetic easy: a €100 win is exactly 1x the stake.

A Carnival in the Graveyard

The setting is a moonlit cemetery painted in bright cartoon greens. A haunted tree with a face leans over the left of the screen, an owl watches from the top of the reel frame, and a friendly ghost strums a banjo in the foreground while worms wriggle out of the grass.

On the right, a second ghost and a small skeleton sit among the headstones, and candles burn along the base of the machine. The reels themselves are set into a tall grey tombstone, which gives the grid a clear frame against all that movement.

Perched on top of the stone is the trickster of the title: a grinning clown in a purple top hat, holding up a card that changes during play. It shows a number when the respin feature is running and a target symbol at other times, so the host is also the game’s scoreboard.

The tone is Halloween played for laughs rather than scares. The symbols have faces, the ghosts wave, and the whole scene moves constantly without ever cluttering the nine positions that matter.

Classic Fruit With a Grin

The symbol set is a fruit machine that has been given personalities. Cherries, grapes, lemons, oranges and watermelons all wear expressions, the lemon squinting and the watermelon scowling, and they sit alongside a golden bell, a gold star and a red 7.

The Wild is a purple starburst with the word stamped across it. It substitutes for the paying symbols to complete lines, and in our session it landed stacked on the first reel more than once – three Wilds filling the whole of reel one is what produced the largest base-game win we recorded.

The Paytable at a €100 Bet

With only three reels, every win is a three-of-a-kind, and the paytable is short enough to learn at a glance. The values the game displayed at our €100 stake were:

Red 7: €500 (5x). Golden bell: €300 (3x). Gold star: €200 (2x). Watermelon: €120 (1.2x). Orange: €100 (1x). Lemon: €80 (0.8x).

The remaining fruits sit further down the paytable below those six. The shape of the ladder matters more than the individual numbers: the top line pays only five times the stake, so a single winning line is never going to be the story of a session here.

What lifts the totals is the fact that five lines run across a nine-position grid. One Wild in the centre can sit on four of those five lines at once, and stacked Wilds on a reel turn one good symbol into several simultaneous wins.

What the Base Game Paid

Our demo wins give a fair picture of how the numbers combine. We saw totals of €120, €160, €180, €220, €240, €400 and €600 – between 1.2x and 6x the bet – plus one spin worth €1,000, or 10x.

That €1,000 came from three Wilds stacked on the first reel with 7s lined up behind them, the clearest illustration of how the game is meant to work. The €600 hit followed the same pattern with golden bells: Wilds down the first reel, bells completing the lines behind them.

Across our captures the balance readings stayed between roughly €8,380 and €10,500 – a narrow band that matches the medium rating and the frequent small returns.

It is also worth noting how often a Wild featured in those wins. Of the eight winning spins we captured, seven had at least one Wild on the grid, and the three biggest all had two or more. On a five-line, nine-position game the Wild is the main engine of value rather than an occasional helper.

Three Respins and a Sticky Board

The feature the game announces most loudly is its respin round. In our session the screen filled with a banner reading 3 RESPINS!, and the clown’s card switched to a 3 to count them down.

The published feature list pairs the respins with sticky symbols: the triggering symbols stay in place while the rest of the grid spins again, which is how a partly finished board gets the chance to complete. With only nine positions, each locked symbol represents a large share of the grid, so the respins are more consequential than they would be on a bigger layout.

The same list also includes a bonus wheel, a pick-object bonus game and an energy-style symbol collection. We did not reach those in the demo session behind this review, so we describe them only as the published feature set rather than from play.

Mini, Midi and Maxi Jackpots

To the left of the clown, three fixed jackpots are displayed permanently: MINI x15, MIDI x50 and MAXI x500. At our €100 stake those correspond to €1,500, €5,000 and €50,000.

They are multiples of the bet rather than progressive pools, so they scale directly with the stake and never need to build up. The Maxi at 500x sits well above anything the paytable can produce on its own and accounts for most of the distance to the published 800x ceiling.

That ceiling is modest by current standards, and it is worth being clear about: at the maximum bet of 100 it is an 80,000 win, but this is not a game built for the enormous multipliers of higher-volatility releases.

The jackpot panel stays visible on every spin, which is a small but useful design choice: the three figures are always in view, and a player never has to open the rules to find out what the top prizes are worth at the current stake.

Controls and Presentation

The interface is Yggdrasil’s standard layout: balance and bet along the bottom bar, a large circular spin button on the right with smaller buttons for sound, bet and the menu beside it, and a menu that opens the paytable, rules and settings in a panel on the left.

The win count-up is displayed in large lettering across the middle of the grid, with a lightning effect tracing the winning lines between symbols. It makes multi-line wins easy to read, since you can see each connection being drawn.

Who Should Play It

Trickstar Spins suits players who like short, simple sessions with plenty of small wins and a light-hearted look. The three-reel grid, the five-times top symbol and the steady hit rate all point to entertainment over big chases.

The reservations are the 94% default RTP, which is below the usual 96% benchmark, and the 800x ceiling. If either matters to you, check the operator’s RTP setting before playing for real money.
