3 Wonders Witches Wild Fortune

3 Wonders Witches Wild Fortune is a spooky video slot from Yggdrasil, created by the partner studio Boomerang Studios and released on 20 October 2026, just in time for Halloween. It is part of the 3 Wonders™ series, where three different Scatter symbols decide which features join the free spins. The game uses 5 reels and 3 rows with 243 ways to win, the headline RTP is 96%, and the volatility is on the high side.

A Coven In The Moonlight

The reels hang inside a frame of twisted, dead branches in front of a crooked witch house, with a full moon, gravestones and flickering candles around them. A scarecrow leans on the left, and green smoke rises from a cauldron in the bottom-right corner. Below the reels, three potion bottles show the three free spins features: Symbol Upgrade, Lockin Reel and Expanding Wild.

The symbols tell the story of the coven. A young red-haired witch, an old witch with a wooden spoon, a black crow, a purple cat and a bubbling green cauldron are the picture symbols, and skulls, green and purple potion bottles and old spell books complete the set. The Wild lands on reels 2, 3 and 4 and replaces everything except the Scatters.

Paying Across 243 Ways

Every spin plays all 243 ways. Matching symbols must land on consecutive reels starting from the leftmost reel, in any row, and each symbol can be used only once in a combination. Coinciding wins are added together. Bets run from €0.10 to €75, and the provider gives a hit frequency of about 30%, so small wins come along fairly often in the base game.

Three Pumpkins, Three Spells

The Scatters are pumpkins, and there are three kinds of them. Three Scatters of any type start the 3 Wonders™ Free Spins with 12 free spins, and each pumpkin switches on its own feature:

• a Rotten Pumpkin activates Lockin Reel;
• a Ghost Pumpkin activates Symbol Upgrade;
• a Fresh Pumpkin activates Expanding Wild.

So the round can have one, two or all three features at the same time. Three new Scatters during the free spins add 8 more spins, and any pumpkin type that was not active before can switch on its feature at that point.

The Free Spins Features

Lockin Reel works on every free spin when it is active: two or more neighbouring reels are linked and show exactly the same symbols, up to all five reels. During this feature the Wild can also appear on reel 5. Symbol Upgrade may trigger on any free spin; the purple bottle or the green bottle is chosen, and every matching bottle on the screen turns into the old witch or the young witch. With Expanding Wild, every Wild that lands grows to cover its whole reel. The features are always played in the same order – Lockin Reel, then Symbol Upgrade, then Expanding Wild – so a full set of three can stack linked reels, upgraded symbols and full Wild reels in one spin.

Why The Combinations Matter

Each spell is useful on its own, but they work best together. Lockin Reel alone guarantees that the linked reels show the same symbols, which makes long ways wins much easier. With Symbol Upgrade on top, the cheap bottle symbols can turn into witches first, so the linked reels are more likely to be filled with the top-paying characters. Add Expanding Wild, and any Wild that lands on a linked reel stretches over the whole column. Because the round only shows which pumpkins landed, the start of every free spins round feels a little like opening a gift – you never know which mix of spells you will get.

The retrigger is also important. Landing three Scatters again does not only add eight spins; a pumpkin type that was missing at the start can now unlock its feature, so a plain round can turn into a much stronger one halfway through.

Our Night In The Woods

There is no buy option, so we played the base game at €1 per spin. The early spins brought a run of small hits, among them five crows across the reels for €3 and five purple cats for another €3. After about 28 spins the third pumpkin landed, the screen filled with purple smoke, and 12 free spins began with the Symbol Upgrade potion glowing under the reels. Upgraded witches helped on the tenth free spin, when five old witches paid €5 and the whole spin returned €8.33, and the final spin added €1.80 with four crows. The old witch then appeared on a full-screen summary with a total of €18.40 – a modest round with just one of the three spells active.

RTP, Volatility And Max Win

The RTP is 96%, with 94% and 92% versions for casinos; the demo runs on the 94% build, so check the game rules where you play. The volatility is medium-high, and the maximum win is 3,198x the bet, which is €239,850 at the maximum stake.

A Good Pick For Halloween?

3 Wonders Witches Wild Fortune is easy to learn and has a strong seasonal mood. The base game pays often but small, and the real interest is in the free spins, where every round can look different depending on the pumpkins. A round with all three spells is the one to hope for. Fans of classic 243-ways slots with a smart bonus twist will feel at home here.
