How we rate games

Every slot is scored on the same four criteria, using the game's published data: RTP (40%), maximum win potential (25%), bonus features described in our review (30%) and how recent the release is (5%). Our editors can adjust a score after playing the game. Missing data counts as neutral. The score reflects the game's numbers and features, not your chances of winning; slots are games of chance, so please play responsibly.

3 Pots Riches Extra: Hold and Win Overview

3 Pots Riches Extra: Hold and Win is an Irish-themed coin slot from Playson, released on 15 February 2024. It plays on a 5x4 grid with 30 paylines, and its signature is the row of three magic pots above the reels. SlotCatalog lists a 95.76% RTP (the game comes in several RTP versions) and a maximum win of 5,000x. Stakes run from 0.20 to 100.

The Four Jackpots

The plaques on the left of the reels are fixed multiples of the bet. At a 10.00 stake they read:

  • Mini: 150.00 – 15x
  • Minor: 500.00 – 50x
  • Major: 1,500.00 – 150x
  • Grand: 50,000.00 – 5,000x

The Grand is exactly the published 5,000x maximum – the jackpot itself is the ceiling of the game.

The Three Pots

Above the reels stand a green, a red and a blue pot, labelled Double, Mystery and Collect. SlotCatalog lists a symbol collection mechanic for the game, and the pots are where it shows: they fill up during play and bring their feature into the bonus when it starts. The names describe what they add – doubled coin values, mystery symbols that reveal prizes, and a collector that gathers the values on the reels.

The Collect Pot in Action

Our screenshots show the collector working to the penny. The trigger spin landed coins of 30, 15, 15, 15 and 20 together with a blue clover coin. When the bonus ran, that blue coin showed 95.00 – exactly 30 + 15 + 15 + 15 + 20. The round then closed with a total win of 245.00, 24.5x the 10.00 bet.

Adding Up the Final Board

The finished board makes the maths easy to follow. When the round ended, ten coins were left on the grid: 30, 10, 15, 95, 15, 15, 15, 15, 20 and 15. Add them together and you get 245 – exactly the total win the game displayed. There was no hidden bonus on top: every penny of the prize is visible on the reels, and the blue collect coin simply counts as one more coin with a bigger value.

It also shows how much the collector matters. Without its 95.00 the same board would have paid 150.00; the Collect pot turned an ordinary coin round into one worth almost 25 times the bet.

Free Spins

The scatters are rainbow pots that can land anywhere. Three of them paid 20.00 – 2x the bet – and opened the bonus screen: “8 Free Spins with” the leprechaun wild carrying an x2 multiplier. So the free spins bring a doubling wild into every combination it completes.

Base Game Wins

The symbol set is classic Irish: a green top hat, the leprechaun, golden harps, horseshoes, tankards of ale and money sacks, with card royals K, Q, J and A for the small wins. At the 10.00 stake our spins paid:

  • 18.00 for a line of Ks completed by the leprechaun
  • 12.00 for harps
  • 7.50 for horseshoes

These are modest line wins – the real value of the game sits in the coin round and the four jackpots.

The Jackpots at Every Stake

Because the jackpots are fixed multiples, they move with the bet:

  • At the 0.20 minimum: Mini 3, Minor 10, Major 30, Grand 1,000
  • At 10.00: Mini 150, Minor 500, Major 1,500, Grand 50,000
  • At the 100 maximum: Mini 1,500, Minor 5,000, Major 15,000, Grand 500,000

That makes the game equally readable at any stake – the plaques always show 15x, 50x, 150x and 5,000x of whatever you are betting.

The Numbers at a Glance

A 5x4 grid, 30 fixed lines, a 95.76% RTP in the version SlotCatalog lists, and a 5,000x ceiling set by the Grand jackpot. SlotCatalog also lists stacked symbols, a symbol swap and wilds with multipliers among the features – the last of these is the x2 leprechaun we saw in the free spins.

Graphics and Setting

The reels stand in a golden frame on a sunny green hillside under a blue sky. The pots overflow with coins, the scatters are rainbow-topped pots, and the coin round turns the grid dark green so the gold coins stand out. The game is designed to be played on mobile as well as desktop, with the spin, autoplay and turbo buttons on the right.

3 Pots Riches Extra vs the Original

This is the “Extra” edition of 3 Pots Riches: Hold and Win. The theme and the three-pot idea carry over, while the Extra version adds the leprechaun wild with its free-spin multiplier and the collect feature we saw adding up the coins. Playson has since built the same pot mechanic into other themes, including 3 Magic Lamps: Hold and Win.

Who It Is For

3 Pots Riches Extra is for players who like a Hold and Win game with a little more to watch. The pots give the base game a purpose, the collector makes coin rounds add up quickly, and the fixed jackpots are easy to read at any stake. With a 5,000x Grand as the ceiling, the biggest wins all come from the coin board.
