Sin City Overview

Sin City is a gangster-themed video slot from TaDa Gaming, released on 11 March 2024. It plays on a 5x4 grid with 40 fixed paylines, set against a night-time skyline with a pinstriped mobster and his tommy gun standing guard on the left of the reels. SlotCatalog lists medium volatility and a maximum win of 4,500x the bet, with stakes from 0.10 to 100. TaDa does not publish an RTP figure for this title in any source we could find, so we leave that number open.

The heart of the game is a panel of five gangster portraits on the right of the reels, each one standing for a different bonus. In free spins, those bonuses come into play – and the game promises that one to three of them trigger on every round.

Symbols and Setting

The high-paying symbols are the city’s crooks: a gangster in a fedora, his associates, a vintage black sedan, a crystal whisky glass and a pistol. The low end is covered by J, Q, K and A in a dark, stencilled style. A WILD symbol substitutes on the reels, and a grinning mob boss holding two fans of dollar bills is the SCATTER.

Everything is framed in brass and wood like an old speakeasy, with the neon of a 1930s city behind the reels. Unlike many gangster slots, the art is clean and cartoonish rather than gritty – the mobster on the left chews a cigar and looks more at home in a comic than a crime film.

Triggering the Free Spins

Three scatters anywhere on the reels start the bonus. In our demo round they landed on reels 2, 3 and 4 of the bottom rows, each boss waving his cash with a “SCATTER” label, and the game announced 6 free spins on a large panel with the front of a vintage car. The small print under the number is the key line: “1 to 3 types of Bonus are triggered in every round.”

The Five Bonuses

During free spins the five portraits on the right, labelled BONUS 1 to BONUS 5, light up as they fire. Two of them showed their names in our round:

• Bonus 2 – Mystery Symbol: a large block of the reels fills with “WANTED” posters that all reveal the same symbol together. In our screenshot a block of twelve posters covered the middle three reels from top to bottom.
• Bonus 4 – Symbol Upgrade: orange arrows run across the grid and turn lower symbols into higher ones. In our round glasses and gangster portraits were upgraded into the black sedan.

The other three bonuses did not show their names in our screenshots, so we do not describe them here. Because several bonuses can fire on the same spin, a single free spin can combine a mystery block with upgrades, which is where the big results come from.

What Our Round Showed

We played the demo at a bet of 50. The Symbol Upgrade spin paid 240 – 4.8x the bet – when three rows of the reels ended up showing the black sedan after the arrows had done their work. The next screenshot shows the same 240 landing as the win of that spin, with the free spin counter on the left moving on.

The round finished on a “CONGRATS” screen with the mob boss holding up his money: 825 in total, or 16.5x the bet from six free spins. The balance line confirms it, with the win of 825 added to a balance of 1,320.

A Base Game Win

In the base game we also caught a stacked win on the fedora gangster: several of them lined up on reels 1 to 3 with a WILD and a scatter on the reels, for a win of 100 – 2x the bet. With 40 lines on a 5x4 grid, stacked high symbols like these are the base game’s main source of wins.

The Numbers

With medium volatility, 40 lines and a 4,500x top prize, Sin City sits in the middle of the range. The free spins are the feature to wait for: only six spins, but each of them guaranteed to carry at least one of the five bonuses. There is no bonus buy listed.
