Yu Fu Overview

Yu Fu is an Asian-themed video slot from KA Gaming, released on 12 June 2024. It plays on five reels and three rows with 243 ways to win, so matching symbols pay on adjacent reels from the left in any position. Bets run from $0.30 to $150 per spin.

The title translates as “fisherman”, and the game is set in a quiet riverside world of swordsmen, sages and rulers. KA Gaming has not published an RTP, a volatility rating or a maximum win, and SlotCatalog lists all three as unavailable, so we leave those figures out rather than guess. The numbers below come from our own demo session, played at the maximum bet of $150.

A Pavilion by the Water

The reels sit under the curved roof of a wooden pavilion, framed by red lacquered posts. On the left, a pine tree leans over a lakeside house; on the right, misty mountains rise above lily pads and reeds. A label on each side of the grid reads 243 WAYS.

The high symbols are painted portraits and objects in coloured frames: a young swordsman in a white robe, an old sage with a white beard, a crowned ruler, a dark blue ceremonial mask, a red wine jar with two small bowls and a bundle of bamboo scrolls. The low symbols are the card ranks from 10 to A, brushed in ink like calligraphy. The wild is a bamboo raft, and the scatter is a temple gate.

The Paytable at $150

The paytable is printed in dollars for the current bet. At $150 the values for five, four and three of a kind are:

  • Swordsman – $1,500 / $600 / $200 (10x the bet for five)
  • Old sage – $1,000 / $400 / $150
  • Crowned ruler – $500 / $250 / $125
  • Mask – $400 / $200 / $100
  • Wine jar – $300 / $150 / $75
  • Scrolls – $250 / $125 / $60
  • A $200, K $175, Q $150, J $125 and 10 $100 for five

Because the game pays on ways rather than lines, a stack of the same symbol on one reel multiplies the win: two masks on the first reel and one on the next two count as two separate ways, each paying the full line value.

Wilds and Ways in Action

Our best base-game spin came from exactly that effect. Two blue masks sat on the first reel, a bamboo-raft wild on the second and two more masks on the third. That makes 2 × 1 × 2 = four ways of three masks, each worth $100, and the spin paid $400 – 2.7x the bet.

The same arithmetic explains why a stacked symbol matters more than a rare one. A single set of three masks is worth only two-thirds of the bet, but the moment the stacks line up, the ways multiply the result without any extra feature being triggered.

Smaller spins showed the same pattern. A pair of wine jars in the left corner and a third on the fourth reel paid $150, four stacked Qs across the middle reels returned $180, and two raft wilds on the second and third reels combined with As and portraits for a $280 win.

The raft wild only showed up on the middle reels in our captures, which is where it does the most good: a wild there can complete ways for every symbol on the first reel at once.

The Scatter and the Free Games

Three temple-gate scatters trigger the bonus. In our session they landed on the first, second and fifth reels, and the game announced 15 free games, with the swordsman stepping onto the screen to present the award.

During the free games the background turns to a dusk view of a walled town, and the frame is marked FREE GAME on both sides. One spin with a row of Ks and stacked wine jars paid $540, and with six games still to play the total bonus win already stood at $2,655 – about 17.7x the bet.

The Session in Numbers

We started the captures with a balance of $94,430 and played every spin at $150. The balance moved down to $93,245 and $91,875 through a run of small wins, then climbed back to $98,960 after the mask spin and a few more hits in the base game.

The free games then took it to $94,060 on the screen we captured, with six games still to come and $2,655 already banked in the bonus. That is a fair picture of how the game behaves: small, frequent returns in the base game and one bonus round that decides the session.

What to Expect

The session shows a steady game: most base-game wins landed between 1x and 3x the bet, and the real value came from the free games, where fifteen spins gave the ways system time to add up. With no published RTP or maximum win, that pattern is the best guide we have.

The paytable scales with the stake, so the same ratios hold at any bet. At the minimum of $0.30, five swordsmen pay $3.00 and three masks pay $0.20; at a mid-range $15 they pay $150 and $10. The multiples of the bet – 10x for the top symbol, two-thirds of the bet for three masks – do not change.

It is also worth noting how high the card ranks pay: five As return 1.3x the bet, which keeps the balance ticking over between the bigger portrait wins.

Who Should Play It

Yu Fu suits players who like classic 243-ways slots with a calm Asian setting and a simple free games round. There is no buy feature and no jackpot, so the game is about stacked symbols, wilds and a long bonus.
