Book of Dragon Hold and Win OverviewBook of Dragon Hold and Win is a five-reel, three-row slot from Felix Gaming with 10 fixed paylines, released in July 2024. It mixes two familiar formulas: a classic book-style free spins round with an expanding symbol, and a Hold and Win bonus built on dragon eggs. Felix’s own game page lists an RTP of 96.21%, a volatility rating of 4 on its scale (high) and a maximum exposure of 5,000x the total bet, with bets from €0.10 to €50. The numbers below come from our demo session, played at a bet of 15.00 FUN. A Dragon’s CavernThe reels sit in a dark cave lit by torches, framed in carved stone. A blue-and-purple dragon watches from the top left corner, and three jewelled eggs above the grid display the jackpot values. The premium symbols are a treasure chest, a scroll, a potion bottle and the dragon itself; the low symbols are the letters A, K, Q, J and the number 10, drawn in blue, green and gold with a dragon claw wrapped around them. The BOOK is the key symbol – a red spellbook with a jewel on its cover. It substitutes for the regular symbols and also triggers the free spins. Felix describes the full set as 14 regular symbols and 9 special symbols. Its symbol list names four eggs – golden, silver, bronze and wooden – alongside the book, the dragon, the chest, the bottle, the scroll, four letters and one number; the eggs only matter for the Hold and Win feature. In our captures the eggs also land in the base game as dark stone ovals with a value printed on them, such as 80.00 and 15.00, waiting for enough companions to start the bonus. How the Paylines PayAccording to Felix, a base game win needs at least three matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left – except the DRAGON, which already pays for two. Our captures show the usual book-slot pattern: line wins are modest, and the value is concentrated in the features. At 15.00 FUN (1.50 per line) four Queens on line 9 paid 30.00 (2x the bet), four Kings on line 5 paid 45.00 (3x), and three potion bottles on line 3 – with a book standing in on reel 1 – paid 30.00 as part of a 37.50 spin. Two books on the middle reels, surrounded by green letters, lit up several lines at once for a 52.50 total (3.5x). Three Jackpots Above the ReelsThe eggs above the grid show fixed jackpots that scale with the bet. At 15.00 FUN they read MINI 300.00, MAJOR 1,500.00 and MEGA 15,000.00 – that is 20x, 100x and 1,000x the stake. Even the Mega jackpot sits well below the 5,000x ceiling, so the biggest results must combine the jackpot with other wins or come from the free spins. The Hold and Win FeatureFelix’s rules say that six or more EGG symbols in the base game trigger the Hold and Win feature. There are four eggs – golden, silver, bronze and wooden – and each lands with a cash value. The eggs lock in place and the counter on the left shows 3 respins; the grid clears around them and the round continues while new eggs keep landing. We bought the feature. The round opened with seven eggs worth 15.00, 30.00, 210.00, 30.00, 80.00, 45.00 and 30.00, and it ended with the respin counter at zero, the dragon heads on the grid alongside the eggs, and a final total of 875.00 FUN – 58.3x the bet. The eggs on their own add up to 440.00, so the dragons clearly contributed to the result, but the game does not break down how. Once the bonus is triggered, a large golden egg fills the screen with the words HOLD AND WIN FEATURE, and a “press start to continue” prompt starts the respins. The regular symbols stay visible behind the locked eggs, which makes it easy to follow which positions are still open. The Free SpinsThree or more BOOK symbols trigger 12 free spins. Before they start, one symbol is chosen at random as the special expanding symbol. During the round it can expand over whole reels, and in the free spins two or three matching expanding symbols anywhere on the reels are enough for a win. Every further set of three or more books adds another 12 spins. This is the classic source of the big results in book slots: a high-paying expanding symbol filling several reels across all ten lines. Buying the FeaturesThe shopping-cart button on the left opens the Buy Bonus menu with two choices. At 15.00 FUN, Free Games cost 750.00 (50x the bet) and Hold and Win cost 975.00 (65x). The confirmation window shows the price again before any money moves. Our bought Hold and Win returned 875.00 on a 975.00 price – a small loss, which is a fair reminder that a bought feature is not a guaranteed profit. What the Session DidOur demo balance started at 1,000.00 FUN. The bought Hold and Win took it down to 25.00 before the 875.00 result came back, and the base game spent the rest of the session between roughly 137 and 820 FUN. The line wins in our captures ranged from 2x to 3.5x the bet – typical for a book slot, where the line game mostly keeps the balance ticking over between features. The free demo above runs on Felix’s own game server in FUN coins, with the same interface as the real-money version: the jackpot eggs at the top, the buy button on the left and the spin and auto-play controls on the right. The Numbers to Keep in MindA 96.21% RTP is right on the market average, and Felix rates the game 4 on its volatility scale, which puts it in the high band. SlotCatalog agrees on the 5,000x maximum, the 10 lines and the July 2024 release, but lists no RTP or volatility of its own. With high volatility and a 5,000x ceiling, expect long stretches of small line wins between the features. Who Should Play ItBook of Dragon Hold and Win suits players who enjoy book slots but want a second route to the big wins. The expanding-symbol free spins and the egg-based Hold and Win give the game two very different bonus rounds, and the Buy Bonus menu lets you pick the one you prefer.
