The reels sit between white marble columns in front of a Roman temple. The symbols are painted in rich colour: a bearded gladiator in a crested helmet, the she-wolf with Romulus and Remus, a roaring lion, crossed swords, a bronze shield, a silver vase and a banquet platter. The wild is a golden bust of an emperor, and the bonus symbol is the Colosseum.

Cascades and Combos

Winning symbols explode and new ones fall into their place, and the game counts each step of the chain as a numbered combo. In our captures COMBO #1 paid 30.00 and COMBO #2 added 10.00 on the same spin; another sequence of blue vases opened with a 30.00 combo.

The Colosseum Bonus

Three or more Colosseum symbols on active paylines start the bonus feature. The rule sheet adds that the bonus symbols are cleared in any combo if the feature is not triggered, so they cannot block the cascades.

In our session three Colosseums on the middle row opened the bonus with the message “Congratulations, bonus feature won!”. The game then moves into the arena, where a gladiator faces a lion. You choose one of three actions – a single sword, crossed swords or the shield – and a helmet counter in the corner shows how many rounds remain: it read x3 at the start and x2 after the first exchange.

Inside the Arena

The bonus screen is a full-screen scene rather than a reel set. A gladiator in a golden helmet with a red crest stands on the left with sword and round shield, and a lion charges from the right in front of a packed amphitheatre lit by torches. The three round buttons at the bottom right carry the sword, the crossed swords and an eagle shield, and a Total Win field below them starts at 0.00.

The helmet counter in the top-right corner works like a set of lives: it started at three and dropped to two after the first exchange. The rules shown in our captures do not list the prize for each action, so we do not quote values for the arena.

Buy Bonus

The Buy Bonus option cost 1,720.00 at our 40.00 stake, which is 43x the bet, and takes you straight to the arena. The game also offers a risk (gamble) option after wins, according to SlotCatalog.

Our Session in Numbers

The balance moved between about 4,460 and 6,220 over our captures. The base-game wins we recorded were small – 10.00, 20.00 and 30.00 – which fits the low volatility rating, and the bigger swings came from the bonus and the purchase. Measured against the 40.00 stake, those base-game wins were worth 0.25x, 0.5x and 0.75x, while the 1,720.00 buy price equals 43 times the total bet or 860 times the line bet.
