Great Buffalo Dice Overview

Great Buffalo Dice is a ZeusPlay slot on a wide six-reel, four-row grid, with a published 95.65% RTP and high volatility. It is the dice edition of the studio’s Great Buffalo, and it carries the same prairie setting with every symbol redrawn as a die.

Worth flagging up front: the dice edition has no SlotCatalog datasheet. Only the original Great Buffalo is listed, so there is no independent maximum-win figure for this version and we have not borrowed one from the parent game. Everything below was read from demo play at a €20.00 bet.

Theme and Graphics

The base game looks out over red desert at sunset: saguaro cactus, a bare thorn tree, a scorpion on the sand and a sky running from orange to violet. The reel frame is built from lashed timber with a pair of steer horns mounted on top.

The free spins move the same landscape to night – deep blue, the cactus in silhouette, the horns catching the last light. It is one of the cleanest mode changes in this batch precisely because nothing else moves.

Everything Is a Die

This is the whole conceit, and it is carried through without exception. The low symbols are plain white dice with coloured pips – red, pink, blue, green, orange, purple and grey – and the colour is what separates one low symbol from another, exactly as card ranks would in an ordinary slot.

The premiums are dice with animal faces set into the pip face: a buffalo, an eagle, a wolf, a bear, a cougar and a prairie dog. They are the same six-sided objects, just with a portrait where the six would be.

The wild is a gold die with WILD stamped across it, and it is the only symbol that breaks the white-and-black colour scheme.

What the Symbols Pay

The pay table is eleven symbols deep and quotes four lengths – six, five, four and three matches – which tells you the reels pay across the full width of the grid.

At the €20.00 bet the best symbol returns €150.00 for six, which is seven and a half times the stake. From there the table steps down through the low hundreds to figures as small as €4.00 for three of the cheapest die.

A 7.5x top line is very low for a premium, and it points at the same thing the 6×4 grid does: this is a game that pays through the number of matching positions on a wide board, not through any one line.

How It Differs From Great Buffalo

The original is listed and the dice edition is not, so the two can be compared directly on the one that is. Great Buffalo ran on six reels of five rows with a 97% RTP and a maximum win of 42,336x, and came out on 27 July 2023.

The dice edition is a row shallower – 24 positions instead of 30 – and its published return is 95.65%, a full point and a third below the original. It is a re-skin in look only; the machine underneath is not the same one.

Where the Wild Lands

The pay table carries one line that matters more than the prices: “WILD appears on reels 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.”

It never lands on the leftmost reel. Because wins are built from the left, every wild in the game is a middle piece – it can extend a run that has already started but it can never begin one. The first reel always has to pay for itself.

The Multiplier Wilds

In the free spins the gold die changes. It arrives carrying a multiplier printed on its face, and the captures show both x2 and x3 versions on the reels.

One free-spin board has an x3 wild low on the second reel and paid €300.00 – fifteen times the stake. Another has an x2 and an x3 on the board together, for €240.00.

That is where the volatility rating comes from. The base game pays in tens and low hundreds; the round pays the same boards multiplied two or three times over.

The Free Spins

The trigger is a red die with a gold disc on its face, and the captures catch three of them scattered across the grid on a night background.

The award screen is a plain wooden panel: Congratulations – You have won 8 FREE SPINS, with Click anywhere to continue underneath. No animation, no wheel, no choice of volatility.

A FREE SPINS counter then sits in the top-left corner of the frame and counts down – the captures show it at 6, 5 and 1.

What the Session Produced

The base game paid €118.00, €120.00 and €320.00 against the €20.00 bet – from six to sixteen times the stake.

The €320.00 board is the best of them and shows how the grid actually pays: prairie-dog dice stacked three and four deep across the first three reels, with nothing at all on the right-hand side of the screen.

The free spins added €140.00, €240.00 and €300.00. The credit meter moved 4,920.00, 5,178.00, 5,162.00, 5,122.00, 5,562.00 and 5,822.00 across the captures – up about nine hundred on the run, almost all of it from the round.

The Pay Table and the Interface

The pay table opens as a single dark panel with the eleven symbols laid out in three columns, each with its four prices listed beside it in yellow, and the wild note printed underneath the whole block. There is no second page of feature rules – what the panel shows is the entire game.

The bottom bar is equally spare. Bet (€) and Credit (€) sit at the left with a menu button, the win figure appears in the centre, and the spin control on the right is flanked by a stop square and an A for autoplay.

During the free spins the spin button becomes a plain triangle and the counter takes over the top-left corner of the frame – there is no separate bonus bar, no running total and no multiplier meter. Everything you need to read is on the dice themselves.

Who Should Play It

Great Buffalo Dice suits players who like a wide board and want a version of the buffalo format that does not look like every other one. The dice conceit is carried through properly rather than pasted on, the night-time free spins are handsome, and the x2 and x3 wilds give the round a real lift over the base game.

The caveats are a 95.65% RTP that is below average, a wild that cannot start a win, and the absence of any published ceiling for this edition. Treat the free spins as the game and the base reels as the wait.
