Abby and the Witch – Hold and Win

Abby and the Witch – Hold and Win is a Halloween slot from Zeus Play, released on 21 October 2025. It plays on a 5x3 grid with 10 paylines, returns 95.86% at medium volatility and tops out at 7,500x the bet. The unusual thing about it is on the paytable: the wild is the most valuable symbol in the game.

A Purple Night

The reels stand in front of a haunted house with lit windows, bats crossing a violet sky, pumpkins scattered in the grass at the foot of the frame. The ABBY & WITCH logo sits on the top rail with Hold and Win beneath it.

The cast is small: Abby herself, a blonde girl with a red bow, a carved pumpkin, a bubbling green cauldron, and A, K, Q and J. The witch – green-faced, in a purple hat and robe – is the wild, and she is drawn at full height rather than as a tile.

Five witches are worth 80x the bet and five Abbys 40x. That is the opposite of the usual arrangement, where the wild substitutes but pays nothing of its own – here it is the top line on the table, twice the value of the girl whose name is on the logo.

The rules note explains the balance: “WILD appears on reels 2, 3, 4 in main game. WILD symbol substitutes for all symbols except for BONUS SYMBOL.” Restricted to the middle three reels, five of them cannot land in the base game at all – so that 80x line belongs to the feature.

And it does happen. One of our screenshots caught the witch on all five reels with the full-height figure standing in the centre, returning 4,308.00 – 215x the stake, and by a wide margin the best result of the session.

Moons Instead Of Coins

The Hold and Win symbols are not coins but full moons, pale pink discs with a value printed across them. Ours carried 20, 100, 300 and 1,000 – against the €20 bet, 1x, 5x, 15x and 50x apiece.

That top moon is worth more than five Abbys on a line, which tells you where the game keeps its money. A board of moons is the only route to anything approaching the 7,500x ceiling.

A Pet Announces The Respin

When the hold round triggers, the word Respin sweeps across the reels in orange script and a small green creature – a long-necked dragon or lizard, apparently Abby’s pet – runs across the bottom of the screen carrying it.

It is a charming piece of animation and a clear signal: everything on screen fades to purple, the moons stay lit, and the respin counter takes over. Zeus Play uses the same structure in most of its Hold and Win titles – land a new symbol and the counter resets, miss and it runs down.

What The Base Game Paid

The ordinary spins are modest, as a 10-line game with a compressed paytable has to be. Three Abbys across the top row returned €40.00, or 2x the stake. A king completed by a wild paid €10.00 – half the bet back.

Our credit moved between €4,262 and €5,159 across the session, drifting rather than swinging. That is medium volatility working as labelled, and it is the reason the game is comfortable to sit with between rounds.

95.86% Is Slightly Below Average

The return is a shade under the industry norm, and the reasons are visible. A wild that pays 80x, a moon worth 50x, a hold round and a 7,500x ceiling all have to come from somewhere, and the base paytable is where: pumpkins and cauldrons at 10x for five of a kind, queens and jacks at 2x.

The medium volatility rating is honest though. With ten lines and only seven symbols, something lands often; it is simply rarely worth much until the witch or the moons arrive.

Two Pairs Of Identical Symbols

Look down the paytable again and the seven symbols are really five tiers. The pumpkin and the cauldron are identical at every level – 200, 50 and 20 – and so are the ace and the king at 100, 20 and 10, and the queen and the jack at 40, 8 and 4.

That is a deliberate simplification and it changes how the board reads. You are never working out whether a pumpkin beats a cauldron, because it does not; the only questions worth asking of any screen are whether the witch is on it and whether Abby is. Everything else is one of three interchangeable pairs.

What The Bet Changes

Everything scales with the stake. Our screenshots were taken at €20.00, where five witches pay 1,600 and the biggest moon 1,000. Halve the bet and every figure halves with it – the multiples, 80x on the wild down to 1x on the smallest moon, never move.
