Wild Turkey

Wild Turkey Overview

Wild Turkey is a classic video slot from NetEnt, released on 1 February 2013. It has 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 paylines. SlotCatalog gives an RTP of 96.6% (the game exists in several RTP versions), high variance, a maximum win of x8000 and stakes from 0.20 to 100 per spin. The banner above the reels promises wins of up to 800,000 coins.

Theme and Symbols

The reels are carved out of grey stone and surrounded by green forest, and the cast is a tribe of turkey warriors. The premium symbols are the King Turkey, the General Turkey, the High Priest Turkey, the Queen Turkey and the Turkey Warrior with his spear, while the playing card ranks from 10 to Ace fill the lower tier.

Paytable

The paytable in our first screenshot was opened at 20 coins, coin value 0.05 and bet level 1. Five King Turkeys pay 4,000 coins, four pay 600 and three pay 50. The General Turkey pays 2,000, 400 and 40, the High Priest 1,000, 300 and 30, the Queen 600, 200 and 20, and the Turkey Warrior 400, 150 and 20 coins. Line wins count from the leftmost reel to the right, and only the highest win per line is paid.

Wild Turkey Idol

The golden Wild Turkey Idol is both the Wild and the Scatter. As a Wild it substitutes for the other symbols, and three or more of them anywhere on the reels start the Free Spins round. According to the game rules three Idols award 15 Free Spins, four award 30 and five award 60.

Free Spins

During Free Spins the Wild Turkey Idol can expand to cover its whole reel, which makes line wins more likely. Each expansion also adds 2 extra Free Spins, so the round can run longer than its starting count.

Gameplay

Our second screenshot shows the 20 numbered lines on both sides of the reels and a small 0.50 line win with the K card symbol on a 1.00 bet, and the third shows an ordinary spin at the same stake. SlotCatalog lists no separate bonus game, so the game rests on the line wins and the Free Spins. The demo on the left lets you try it for free.

Coins and Stakes

The stake is built from the bet level and the coin value. At level 1 and a coin value of 0.05 the 20 lines take 20 coins, which is 1.00 per spin – the stake used in all three of our screenshots. The paytable shows its prizes in coins, so they grow with the bet level you choose.

Our Take

Wild Turkey is an early NetEnt release with a simple structure and a playful theme. The high variance means that the bigger payouts come mainly from the Free Spins with the expanding Idols.
