Great Buffalo Christmas Charm Overview

Great Buffalo Christmas Charm is the festive edition of Great Buffalo from Zeus Play, released in December 2024. It plays on 6 reels and 4 rows with an all-ways mechanic – 4,096 ways on a full 6x4 grid – and moves the original prairie into a snowy winter night.

Zeus Play, which now presents its games under the Sky Interactive name, lists an RTP of 96.4% and high volatility. It does not publish a maximum win for this edition, and SlotCatalog has no separate listing for it, so our data box leaves that field open. The figures below come from our own demo session at a €20 bet.

A Christmas Prairie

The reels sit in a wooden frame hung with Christmas lights, framed by cacti, snow and a starry blue sky. The buffalo wears a Santa hat, and the other animals – an eagle, a cougar, a wolf and a bear – appear in round gold medallions. The low symbols are card ranks from 9 to A.

The wild is a moonlit snow-scene tile marked WILD. A stack of gift boxes stands to the left of the grid, and a “Christmas Charm” sign sits beside the logo.

The Paytable

At the €20 bet the paytable is printed in cash for six, five, four and three of a kind. The Santa-hat buffalo pays €150 / €124 / €100 / €40. The eagle and the cougar pay €124 / €100 / €50 / €30, and the wolf and the bear €100 / €60 / €40 / €20.

Among the card symbols, A and K pay €60 / €40 / €20 / €10, Q and J €50 / €30 / €14 / €4, and 10 and 9 €40 for six. A six-of-a-kind buffalo on one way is therefore 7.5x the bet.

The spread between the top and the bottom of the table is wide. Three buffaloes already pay €40, twice the bet, while three Q’s or J’s return only €4. The animals therefore carry almost all of the value, and the card symbols mostly fill the space between them.

All Ways Wins in Practice

Because every position on adjacent reels counts, stacked symbols multiply the number of ways quickly. Our session produced a string of wins that show this: €32.00 from a column of red 10s with a wild, €160.00 from bears, €460.00 from cougars, €480.00 from a block of purple A’s, €258.00 from buffaloes and €496.00 from eagles.

The best capture was a screen full of eagles on the first four reels with a wild in support, paying €1,600.00 – 80x the bet in a single base-game spin.

Checking the Wins Against the Paytable

Several of our captures can be checked by counting the ways, and they match the paytable exactly. The €1,600.00 eagle win came from four eagles on reel 1, one on reel 2, an eagle and a wild on reel 3, two eagles on reel 4 and one on reel 5: 4 x 1 x 2 x 2 x 1 = 16 ways of five eagles, each worth €100, which gives €1,600.

The €480.00 win works the same way. The purple A’s filled four positions on reel 1, three on reel 2, two on reel 3 and one on reel 4, so 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 24 ways of four A’s at €20 each. The €160.00 bear win was four bears on reel 1, a wild on reel 2 and single bears on reels 3 and 4: 4 ways of four bears at €40.

These examples show why the stacks on the first reel matter so much in an all-ways game. Every extra matching symbol on reel 1 multiplies the number of ways for the whole combination.

Wilds

The wild appeared on the middle reels in our captures, sometimes more than one at a time. In the €496.00 eagle win three wilds landed together, each extending several ways at once.

The wild did not appear on the first reel in any of our captures, so every win we recorded started with a real symbol on reel 1 and used the wilds only to extend the combination.

Free Spins

According to Zeus Play, scatters can trigger a bonus game with up to 100 free spins, with unlimited retriggers, and random wild multipliers of x2, x3 and x5 during the free spins. We did not trigger the feature in our session, so this description follows the official game page.

Compared With the Original Great Buffalo

SlotCatalog lists the original Great Buffalo as a July 2023 release with a 97% RTP, high variance, a maximum win of 42,336x and a 6-5 layout. The Christmas Charm edition uses a 6x4 grid instead, and its official RTP is slightly lower at 96.4%. Zeus Play does not publish a maximum for the festive version, so the original’s ceiling should not be read across to it.

During our captures the credit display ranged between roughly €4,950 and €6,780 on the €20 bet, with the big eagle spin accounting for most of the upswing.

The Christmas Touches

The festive version keeps the maths of an all-ways buffalo game but changes the dressing: the Santa hat on the buffalo, fairy lights along the frame, snow on the ground and a pile of wrapped presents beside the reels. The presents are purely decorative in our captures – they never changed during play – so we do not treat them as a feature.

What to Expect

High volatility and a 96.4% RTP describe a game that can stay quiet and then pay in bursts. Our base-game results already reached 80x with the right stack of symbols, and the multiplied wilds of the free spins are designed to go much higher.
