Book of Futuria Overview

Book of Futuria is a Book-style slot from SmartSoft Gaming, released on 19 April 2024. It plays on 5 reels and 3 rows with 10 paylines, and it takes the familiar Egyptian book formula into a machine-age future: jackal statues, winged falcons and a pharaoh in golden armour, framed by a mechanical skull at the top of the screen.

Egypt in Steel and Gold

The reels sit inside a riveted metal frame under a sky full of floating pyramids, and in the free spins the background changes to a dark city of towers. The premium symbols are all characters: the pharaoh with a blue headdress, a warrior woman in gold, and a pair of creatures – a winged falcon and a jackal statue. The low symbols are the card ranks from 10 to A, cast in bronze.

The Book itself looks like an armoured tome with a red spine. When three of them land they fly into the middle of the grid before the free spins start.

The Paytable

The info screen shows every prize in credits for the selected bet. At a 100 DMO bet the pharaoh pays 50,000 for five, 10,000 for four, 1,000 for three and 100 for two – five on a line is 500x the bet. The warrior woman pays 20,000, 4,000, 400 and 50, and the falcon and the jackal statue share a line of 7,500, 1,000, 300 and 50.

A and K pay 1,500, 400 and 50, while Q, J and 10 pay 1,000, 250 and 50. The Book pays as a scatter: 20,000 for five, 2,000 for four and 200 for three, anywhere on the screen. The rules add that the Book can substitute for any paying symbol.

Put in terms of the bet, the table is steep at the top and flat below. Two pharaohs already return the stake on a line (100 on a 100 bet), and two of the warrior, the falcon or the jackal return half of it. Five of the falcon or the jackal pay 75x, five aces or kings 15x and five of the lowest ranks 10x, so most base-game wins come from threes and fours of the card symbols.

Wins pay from left to right on the ten lines, only the highest win on each line counts, and scatter wins are added to line wins. The ten lines are simple: three straight rows, two V shapes and their variations across the grid.

Free Spins and the Expanding Symbol

Three or more Books start 10 free spins. Before the round begins one symbol is chosen as the special symbol. During the free spins it expands to cover the whole reel whenever enough of it lands to form a win, and the expanded reels pay on all ten lines.

In our round the special symbol was the jackal statue. On the first free spin it expanded on reels 1, 2 and 5 and paid 700 on the 100 DMO bet (7x). By the end of the round the statue had filled the entire screen – fifteen jackals across all five reels – and the round closed at 76,650. At the 100 DMO bet that is 766.5x, and the balance confirms it: 19,450 before the win and 96,100 after it.

Buy Bonus

The Buy Bonus button sits in the lower left corner. It opens a small window where you choose the bet and see the price, and at a 100 DMO bet the free spins cost 10,000 – exactly 100x the bet. The round in the section above was a bought one. After the purchase the balance stood at 19,450, the bought spin landed three Books for the 200 scatter prize, and the round ended with the balance at 96,100.

Three Books pay 200 on their own, which is 2x the bet, so a bought round always starts with a small scatter prize before the first free spin. With the price at 100x, the round has to find the expanding symbol several times across ten spins just to pay for itself.

That is an exceptional result, not a typical one. A full screen of the special symbol is the best case in any Book game, and most bought rounds finish well below the price.

The Controls

The large round spin button on the right is labelled Hold & Spin. Around it sit a 2x button, an autoplay button, a lightning bolt, a B+ button and a dollar button for the bet settings. The game does not label the 2x, lightning and B+ buttons, so we do not guess at their exact functions here.

A progress bar under the reels, marked with a percentage and a Bonus label, stood at 0% in every capture, so we cannot say what fills it. The gamble option that SlotCatalog lists did not appear in our screenshots either.

What the Base Game Did

At a 125 DMO bet the base game paid small, steady line wins. One spin with three falcons and a K line paid 150 (1.2x), and another with pharaohs and falcons on two diagonal lines paid 200 (1.6x).

That pattern is typical of the genre: the base game keeps the balance ticking over, and the real money sits in the free spins.

The Numbers to Keep in Mind

A 96% return is close to the market average. By the paytable, a screen full of pharaohs across all ten lines would pay 5,000x the bet – that is our own arithmetic from the table, not a figure SmartSoft publishes. Our 766.5x round shows how far the expanding symbol can carry even a mid-tier symbol.
