Mexican Coins OverviewMexican Coins is a Hold and Win slot from Fugaso, released on 13 June 2024. It uses a tiny 3x3 grid with a single line in the base game, and nearly all of its value comes from the coin bonus, where the grid grows, coins lock in place and four fixed jackpots sit on the left of the screen. SlotCatalog lists an RTP of 96.1%, medium-high volatility and a maximum win of 1,300x the bet, with stakes from 0.10 to 100. The figures below come from our own demo session, played at a bet of €1.50. A Fiesta in Gold and RedThe Mexican Coins logo sits at the top in bright letters framed by chilli peppers, and the whole grid glows with flames. The reels are purple in the base game and turn red in the bonus, with a chilli pepper shape pressed into every empty cell. The main symbols are large golden coins stamped with Aztec patterns, each showing a cash value; a coin with a flame on its face marks the special symbols. Four jackpot plaques run down the left side: GRAND in red, MAJOR in purple, MINOR in blue and MINI in green. In all six of our partner casinos the game is listed as Mexican Coins: Cash Up, after its main feature symbol. The JackpotsThe plaques are fixed multiples of the bet. At €1.50 they read MINI €15, MINOR €30, MAJOR €75 and GRAND €750 – that is 10x, 20x, 50x and 500x the stake. The GRAND is well below the published 1,300x ceiling, so the biggest results come from combining jackpots with multiplied coins rather than from a single plaque. The Base GameOutside the bonus, Mexican Coins plays on three reels and three rows with a single payline, and the reels are mostly filled with blank chilli-marked spaces and coins. SlotCatalog notes that the game pays on one line in the base game and on three in the bonus. The base game is therefore a trigger rather than a source of wins in its own right: you are waiting for three coins, or for the Mystery drums that can turn into them. A bonus button on the left of the grid opens the buy menu, and the balance and stake sit at the bottom of the screen in euros. Triggering the Coin BonusThree coins on the 3x3 grid start the bonus. In our session they landed across the middle row with values of €7.50, €3.00 and €4.50 – between 1x and 5x the bet each. The grid then opened a fourth row, the coins stayed in place and the game gave 3 respins. Every new coin or bonus symbol resets the counter to three. The panel on the right tracks the respins left and the total win so far. Mystery Symbols and Jackpot ReelsTwo special symbols make the bonus more than a sum of coins. A Mystery symbol is a red drum that spins at the end of the round and turns into another symbol. A Mystery Jackpot can only become a Mini, Minor or Major jackpot. In one of our rounds a drum showing MINI and MINOR settled on MINI; in another, three Mystery drums filled the middle row at once. According to the paytable, Mystery and Mystery Jackpot symbols open one by one when the bonus ends, which is why the total often jumps in the last few seconds of a round. Cash Up and Boost X UpThe Cash Up symbol is the feature the casinos name the game after. The paytable explains three effects: it raises the level of the bonus symbols below it, it increases the value of bonus symbols into a Sticky Bonus symbol by x4, and it turns a Sticky Bonus into a Mystery Jackpot. The paytable also states that ordinary Mystery symbols can transform into any other symbol except the Sticky Bonus, so the Sticky Bonus can only be created through Cash Up. A second marker, Boost X Up, adds multipliers – in one capture two coins carried x2 labels. What Our Bonus Rounds PaidThe first round locked six coins worth €3.00, €6.00, €7.50, €3.00, €4.50 and €6.00, plus the MINI jackpot. The game paid €45.00, exactly the €30 in coins plus the €15 MINI – 30x the bet. The second round, started from three Mystery drums, collected seven coins of €3.00, €3.00, €1.50, €3.00, €7.50, €4.50 and €3.00 for €25.50, or 17x the bet. Both totals add up coin by coin. Over the captures the demo balance moved between €2,703.50 and €2,816.00 on a €1.50 stake. That is a narrow range, and it reflects the game’s structure: the base game costs a little on every spin, and the bonus rounds pay back in steps of 10x to 30x, with the large jackpots reserved for rare rounds. Buy BonusThe Buy Bonus menu offers two options with their own volatility meters. The Bonus Game costs €60.00 at a €1.50 bet (40x) and is rated medium; the Super Bonus Game costs €112.50 (75x), is rated higher and starts with extra features such as a Mystery Jackpot and multiplier symbols already on the grid. The preview for each option shows what to expect. The Bonus Game picture has coins of 4.00 and 5.00 and a MINI symbol under the Cash Up and Boost X Up markers; the Super Bonus picture adds a pot of gold, a Mystery Jackpot drum and x2 and x3 multipliers on the edge of the grid. The higher price therefore buys a round that starts with more of the features that lift a total above the plain sum of the coins. Bets and Maximum WinStakes run from 0.10 to 100. At the top stake the GRAND plaque is worth 50,000 and the published 1,300x maximum win is 130,000. Because the jackpots are fixed multiples, the proportions never change: the MINI is always 10x, the GRAND always 500x, and anything above 500x has to come from coins and multipliers on top of a jackpot. Who Should Play ItMexican Coins suits players who want a pure Hold and Win game with no distractions: the base game is only a trigger, and every bonus shows exactly what each coin is worth. With a 96.1% RTP and a 1,300x ceiling it is a mid-range option, and the two buy levels let you choose how much risk to take.
