Double Joker Hold and Win is a compact fruit slot from Kalamba Games. It plays on a 3x3 grid with 10 fixed paylines, and Kalamba’s own game data dates the launch to 8 August 2024; SlotCatalog gives 29 July. The published RTP is 94.03%, with slightly higher values for the bought features (94.07%, 94.20% and 94.37%). Kalamba rates the volatility 6 out of 10, gives a hit frequency of 16.63% and a maximum win of 20,000x the bet. Bets run from 0.10 to 50.

It is the Hold and Win follow-up to Kalamba’s 2017 Double Joker, which used the same 3x3 layout but topped out at 2,700x. The figures below come from our demo session, played at a bet of FUN 20.

A Classic Joker Machine

The grid sits in a golden frame against a glowing red and orange background. The symbols are straight from a classic slot machine – cherries, lemons, oranges, plums, grapes, bells, BAR, a blue diamond, a green and a red seven – and the green-hatted joker is the top regular symbol. Four jackpot plaques are stacked on the left of the screen, and a Buy Bonus button sits under them.

The controls are minimal: the balance and the bet are shown in the bottom corners, the win field sits in the middle, and a lightning button next to the large spin button switches on quick spins. A small diamond marker on the top and bottom edge of the frame helps you read the ten lines on such a small grid, and the line count is printed in the top-left corner of the screen.

The Paytable

All wins need three symbols on one of the ten lines, which run through the rows, the diagonals and the V-shapes of the small grid. At a FUN 20 bet the first paytable page shows the joker paying FUN 200 (10x) for three, the diamond FUN 60 (3x), each of the two sevens FUN 30 (1.5x), and the bells and BAR FUN 20 (1x). The fruit symbols sit on the second page below these values.

The paytable reflects the current bet, and every line pays from left to right starting with the leftmost column.

Four Fixed Jackpots

The plaques on the left scale with the bet. At FUN 20 they read MINI 400, MINOR 1,000, MAJOR 20,000 and MAXI 400,000 – that is 20x, 50x, 1,000x and 20,000x the stake.

The MAXI plaque is exactly the published maximum win, so in Double Joker Hold and Win the top jackpot is the ceiling of the game. Kalamba calls the figure the maximum coinciding win, which confirms that nothing else stacks on top of it.

The Golden Joker Wild

The golden joker is the special wild. It substitutes for the fruit symbols, can carry a x2 multiplier, and when it lands it can trigger a respin. In one of our spins two golden jokers – one of them marked x2 – completed lines with BAR and cherries for FUN 120 (6x). Another capture shows a golden joker in the corner of the grid with the RESPIN banner across the screen.

During a respin, coin symbols with cash values appeared next to the golden jokers. One of those spins paid FUN 150, and the total win for the sequence reached FUN 190 – almost 10x the bet from a single base-game event.

The Hold and Win Feature

The main feature is a classic Hold and Win round with three respins. Coins lock in place, every new coin resets the counter, and the cashpot values decide how much the round is worth. Kalamba lists an in-game cashpot and special wilds for the game, and no free spins round.

Three Buy Bonus Options

The Buy Bonus screen offers three ways into the feature, all with 3 Hold and Win spins. At a FUN 20 bet the prices are:

• FUN 600 (30x) – the standard round, “hunt for cashpots and win big”;
• FUN 1,000 (50x) – boosted cashpot odds and values;
• FUN 2,000 (100x) – the highest cashpot odds and values.

We bought the top option. The grid filled with nine golden coins, and the first value revealed in the centre was FUN 2,040 – already slightly more than the price of the round, with three spins still to go.

What the Session Did

The smaller results came from ordinary line hits: one spin with the joker, bells, sevens and grapes on the grid paid FUN 46 (2.3x). The balance moved between roughly FUN 10,600 and 11,070 during the captures, with the bought feature the only large swing.

The Numbers to Keep in Mind

A 94.03% return is below the market average, and the bought features only add a fraction of a percent. On the other hand, the 20,000x ceiling is huge for a 3x3 slot, and the 16.63% hit frequency means most spins return nothing – the game is built around the feature and the jackpots rather than frequent small wins.

Put in numbers, a hit frequency of 16.63% means roughly one winning spin in six. Many of those wins are small – three bells or three BAR symbols only return the stake – so the balance tends to drift down slowly between golden jokers and cashpot rounds. That is the trade-off for a top prize of 20,000x on a grid with just nine positions.
