Wild West Trueways Overview

Wild West Trueways is a western slot from BGaming, released on 30 July 2024. It runs on 6 reels whose height changes from spin to spin, which is what the Trueways name refers to: with up to 8 symbols on every reel the game reaches 262,144 ways to win. On top of the ways engine it has two bonus rounds, a Coin Respin with three jackpots and free spins with multiplier wilds.

Because the reel heights change on every spin, the number of ways moves with them. A spin with short reels offers only a few hundred ways, while a spin where all six reels show their full eight symbols unlocks every one of the 8 × 8 × 8 × 8 × 8 × 8 = 262,144 combinations. That variation is the heartbeat of the base game: a tall spin gives even the letters a real chance to connect across all six reels.

A Frontier Saloon

The reels sit inside a wooden saloon frame with a desert and red rock mesas behind it. A sheriff’s star labelled Mega Jackpot hangs on the left, a lasso-framed Bonus Buy sign sits below it, and the Mini and Major prizes are painted on the header. The premium symbols are a cowgirl with a rifle, a bundle of dynamite, a pair of cowboy boots and a bottle of whiskey; the low symbols are A, K, Q and J in western lettering. Winning symbols light up inside a burning gold frame, and the win total flashes across the middle of the reels in large gold numbers.

The Paytable

Wins pay for matching symbols on adjoining reels from the left, in any position, and only the longest combination of each symbol is paid. The paytable prints cash values for the current bet. At a 3.00 bet the cowgirl pays 15.00 for six (5x), 6.00 for five, 3.00 for four and 1.50 for three. The dynamite pays 9.00, 4.50, 2.40 and 1.20, the boots 6.00, 3.00, 1.50 and 0.60, and the whiskey 3.00, 1.50, 0.90 and 0.60.

The four letters share one line: 1.50 for six, 0.90 for five, 0.60 for four and 0.30 for three. On their own the line values are small; the real weight of the game is in the ways count and the two bonus rounds. Our best base-game capture was a 180.00 win on a 10.00 bet (18x), with boots stacked on the first three reels.

Converted to the bet, the six-of-a-kind values run from 5x for the cowgirl through 3x for the dynamite, 2x for the boots and 1x for the whiskey, down to 0.5x for the letters. Those are values per way, though, and a symbol stacked on several adjoining reels is counted once for every way it completes – which is how three reels of boots turned into an 18x result.

The Coin Respin

According to BGaming, six or more Coin symbols start the Coin Respin. The reels clear, the coins stay, and the counter at the bottom gives 3 respins, reset whenever a new coin lands. In our round at a 3.00 bet the coins showed values from 3.00 to 30.00, a red dynamite box appeared on the grid, and several reels split into smaller cells. BGaming describes the dynamite as a symbol that divides units during the respin, which fits what we saw.

The instruction under the reels read “Collect 48 coins to get MEGA JACKPOT!”. Our round did not get there, but it still ended with 228.00 – 76x the bet.

The coin values in that round were all multiples of the 3.00 stake: 3.00, 6.00, 9.00, 12.00, 18.00, 24.00 and 30.00, so a single coin was worth between 1x and 10x the bet. The smaller cells created by the dynamite hold coins of their own, so splitting a reel raises the number of coins the grid can carry – and with it the chance of reaching the 48 coins the Mega Jackpot asks for.

Three Jackpots

The jackpots scale with the bet. At 3.00 the Mini showed 60.00 and the Major 300.00; at 10.00 they showed 200.00 and 1,000.00. That makes the Mini 20x and the Major 100x. The sheriff’s star read 3,000.00 and 10,000.00 at the same bets, so the Mega Jackpot is 1,000x – a fifth of the 5,000x ceiling.

Free Spins

Scatter stars trigger the free spins: BGaming lists 4, 5 or 6 scatters for 12, 15 or 20 spins. In our session four stars landed and a “Wanted” poster announced 12 free spins. During the round wilds carry multipliers; BGaming names x2, x3 and x5 and says they stack and apply to all wins in the free spins, and the Buy Bonus panel also shows an x10 wild.

Because the multipliers stack instead of resetting, a spin where two or three multiplied wilds meet on the same winning ways can multiply one result several times over. That compounding is where the 5,000x ceiling comes within reach; in the base game, with the top symbol paying 5x per way, it would be out of sight.

The Buy Bonus

The Buy Bonus screen offers both rounds side by side – Free Spins on the left and Coin Respin on the right. The price in the middle was 300.00 at a 3.00 bet and 1,000.00 at 10.00, so the buy costs 100x the bet. The Numbers to Keep in Mind

An RTP of 96.7% is in line with the market average, but the very high volatility means results arrive unevenly: most spins pay little or nothing, and the big numbers come from the respins and the multiplied free spins.
