The Big Chili OverviewThe Big Chili is a classic fruit slot from CT Gaming (CT Interactive). Juicy fruits and lucky 7s spin on a 5x3 grid with 5 fixed paylines, and a flaming red chili pepper acts as the wild. SlotCatalog lists the current version with a 95.51% RTP (the game comes in several RTP versions), medium volatility, a maximum win of 750x the bet and a release date of 23 October 2023; bets run from 0.05 to 10. An older SlotCatalog entry from 2019, spelled “The Big Chilli”, lists a 75x maximum – the version in the demo on this page, with a gamble feature and the spelling “The Big Chili” on the reels, matches the newer entry. The PaytableCT Gaming shows the paytable in actual cash values at the current line bet. Our demo ran at 0.40 per line across five lines – a total bet of 2.00 – and the table read, for five, four and three of a kind:
The plum and cherry rows were cut off at the bottom of our screenshot, so we do not quote them. The CT Paytable Trap – and the 750xWith CT Gaming slots it is worth converting the paytable into multiples of the total bet, because the cash values are per line. Five lucky 7s pay 300.00, which is 750 times the 0.40 line bet but 150x the 2.00 total bet. The published 750x maximum follows directly from this: if all five lines show five 7s at once, 5 × 300.00 = 1,500.00, and 1,500 divided by the 2.00 stake is exactly 750x. The top prize is therefore a full screen of sevens. Five Fixed LinesThe paylines never change: the two side panels both read 5 LINES and FIXED, and the only choice is the bet per line, with a coin denomination of 0.01 shown in the corner. With so few lines, every win in the game is easy to trace. One spin in our session paid 4.00 on line 3 for three lemons – the lemon row in the table – which is 2x the total bet, and the game drew the winning line straight across the bottom row of the grid. The Chili WildThe rules describe the chili pepper as a wild that substitutes for all symbols at all reel positions, except two special symbols – the star scatter among them. On the reels it appears as a burning pepper labelled WILD, and during the bonus it can stretch into a tall pepper that fills the whole reel – our screenshots show it covering the first reel from top to bottom. One base-game spin with two wild peppers on the bottom row returned 30.00, which is 15x the total bet. The Star Scatter and the Free GamesThe star is the scatter, and it pays wherever it lands. Three stars in our session paid 6.00 – exactly the value in the table, 3x the total bet – and the banner at the top announced “Congratulations! You won 5 free games”. The header during the base game reminds you that three or more stars trigger the round, and the rules add that the star does not appear during the free games themselves. During the round a x2 badge is shown in the corner of the screen. At the end of the free games the game adds up the chili symbols collected during the round. Our round finished with the message “You collected 0 chilies – you won: 2 x total bet + 66.00”, and the WIN field showed 66.00 – 33x the stake for the whole bonus. The Gamble FeatureAny win can be taken to CT Gaming’s card gamble. The screen shows the last ten cards drawn, and you can guess the colour for x2 or the suit for x4. With 32.00 at stake, the colour gamble offered 64.00 and the suit gamble 128.00. There is also a 1/2 option to gamble only half of the win and keep the rest. Graphics and SoundThe Big Chili keeps the look of a land-based fruit machine: a gold frame, a pale green reel background and fat, glossy fruits, all set against a dark red stage curtain. The logo above the reels spells out THE BIG CHILI in bold letters with a small pepper, and the WILD banner at the top of the screen reminds you which symbol to watch. Wins are marked with thin coloured lines rather than big animations, which suits the classic style. More From CT GamingCT Gaming builds many of its fruit slots on the same principles: few fixed lines, cash values in the paytable and a card gamble. 40 Fruitata Wins takes the idea to forty lines with stacked wilds, and Wizard Blizzard x5 applies it to a fantasy theme on a larger grid. Who It Is ForThe Big Chili is for players who want an old-school fruit machine with a few modern touches. Five lines keep the game easy to follow, the chili wild and the 5-spin bonus add some spice, and the gamble lets you push a win further if you like. The 750x ceiling is modest, and it comes from one outcome – a screen full of sevens. All six casinos we checked carry the game. You can try this game on MrJones Online Casino. There’s a unique casino bonus offer of 300% up to £1200 for a limited time. |
