Longmen Express Overview

Longmen Express is a five-reel, three-row slot from KA Gaming with 10 paylines, a 96% RTP and medium volatility. It was released on 15 May 2025.

Autumn at the Dragon Gate

The reels sit inside a lacquered red timber frame that looks like a temple gateway, complete with a tiled roof along the top. Behind it, maple leaves turn orange over a walled courtyard, with pagoda roofs and a hillside beyond.

The backdrop changes for the bonus. The autumn courtyard gives way to a green riverside scene under a covered bridge, and the vertical 10 LINES banners on either side of the reels are replaced by banners reading FREE GAME. There is no way to be unsure which mode you are in.

The Symbol Set

Four characters carry the top of the table: a swordswoman with blue hair, a seated woman in green, a mounted warrior and a temple-gate ornament. Below them come A, K, Q, J and 10, drawn as chunky studded letters in purple, red, gold and green.

Two specials sit alongside: a hanging red banner marked WILD, and a pair of crossed swords labelled SCATTER.

What the Base Game Pays

The captured base spins are modest and frequent, which is what a medium rating on a ten-line game should produce. One spin reads LINE 8 WINS $1.00 – exactly the stake back. A better one reads LINE 2 WINS $5.00, from four A symbols across the top row with a wild banner helping below.

That second figure is worth holding on to: four of a low card symbol is worth 5x on this game. The base paytable is not where Longmen Express makes its money.

The stake-back spin is instructive for another reason. That grid held two scatters and a wild banner at the same time – one scatter short of the round – and paid exactly the dollar back. The near-miss and the break-even arrive together, which is the base game in one screen.

The controls are plain and physical: NEW BET and MAX BET plates either side of the spin button, a ring around it reading press for autoplay, and WIN, TOTAL BET and BALANCE in a bar along the bottom. A single hamburger in the top right holds everything else.

Ten Free Games

Three scatter symbols trigger the round, and the game announces it twice – once in a banner across the top reading WON 10 FREE GAMES, and then on a full green scroll that reads YOU WON 10 FREE GAMES with the swordswoman standing beside it and a Touch To Start prompt underneath.

The trigger spin itself paid $2.00. The round that followed was worth thirty-eight times that.

The Round Is a Respin Engine

This is the part worth understanding. The free games are not ordinary spins. The banner across the top reads RE-SPINNING, GOOD LUCK! and the first one announces STARTING RESPINS across the middle of the grid.

Each spin picks out one symbol and sets every copy of it on fire – the winning positions burn with animated flames while the rest of the grid stays dark. The captures show four consecutive rounds doing it with four different symbols: the A cards, then the 10 cards, then the mounted warrior, then the red wild banners.

The effect is that a free spin is not scored line by line. Whole blocks of the grid light up at once – nine warriors filling reels one to three in one capture, eight wild banners in another.

The best of them has eleven burning wild banners covering the left two-thirds of the grid while a lone 10 and four dark card symbols sit untouched on the right. That single spin paid $16.50 – 16.5x the stake – because the chosen symbol was the wild itself.

Reading the Two Counters

Two numbers track the round. A red disc at the bottom centre counts the spins remaining: the captures catch it at 9, 6, 4 and 2. Beside it, TOTAL BONUS WIN accumulates: $0.00, $27.50, $51.00 and $77.50.

Put those two series side by side and the round’s shape is visible. Between nine spins left and six spins left it produced $27.50; over the next two spins, $23.50; over the next two, $26.50. It pays at a steady rate rather than building to a finish – roughly 12x the stake per spin, spin after spin.

The single-spin figures back that up: $11.50, then $6.00, then $16.50. No one spin carried the round.

What the Round Was Worth

The balance tells the story cleanly. It sat at $84.75 when the free games began and $162.25 at the last capture – and the round was not finished, with two spins still to run.

That is 77.5x the stake and climbing, from a round triggered by three scatters. Against a base game where four matching cards pays 5x, the gap between the two halves of this slot is enormous.

Who Should Play It

Longmen Express suits players who want a ten-line slot that is genuinely quiet until it is not. The base game is cheap to sit through, the trigger is a standard three scatters, and the respin round pays in a steady, legible rhythm rather than one lottery spin at the end.

The reservations are two. There is no published maximum win, so there is no way to know how far the round can run. And the base paytable is thin enough that a session without a trigger will feel like nothing happened at all – the artwork is lovely, but it is not the reason to play.
