License to Win Overview

License to Win is a spy-thriller slot from MrSlotty, released on 15 August 2022. It plays on a classic 5x3 grid with 20 paylines, and SlotCatalog lists a 96% RTP with stakes from 0.01 to 25 per spin. The game is built around two features: a wild that expands over whole reels and a free spins round in which every win is tripled.

A Comic-Book Spy Story

The whole game is drawn like a pulp comic: torn newspaper panels frame the reels, the background is a burst of orange and brown speed lines, and the characters are sketched in heavy ink. The premium symbols are the cast of a Cold War thriller – a trench-coated agent with a pistol, a femme fatale in a black hat with a cocktail, a bald villain in a leather coat, a blue muscle car and a bundle of dynamite. The lower symbols are shooting-range targets and playing-card suits.

The Expanding Wild

The paytable is explicit about the wild: it “substitutes all regular symbols on paylines, except scattered or other special symbols”, and it expands on reels 2, 3 and 4 – when it lands there, every symbol on that reel becomes wild. With three middle reels able to turn fully wild, a single spin can light up many of the 20 lines at once.

The wild is also the best-paying symbol in its own right: five wilds on a line pay 4,000 coins per line in the paytable.

The Paytable

All paytable values are per line and are multiplied by the line bet. Our screenshots were taken at a total bet of 10.00, which on 20 lines is 0.50 per line, so each paytable value is halved in cash. Five wilds are worth 2,000.00 at this stake – 200x the total bet – while the lowest card symbols pay just a few coins for three of a kind.

The 20 Paylines

The bottom of the paytable shows all twenty lines as small diagrams. They are the familiar patterns of a 5x3 slot: the three straight rows, V and inverted-V shapes, zig-zags that step between the top and bottom rows, and a few lines that bend only on the middle reels. Wins pay from left to right, so a symbol has to start on the first reel to count – and because the wild can only appear on reels 2 to 4, it helps complete lines but never starts them.

How the Stake Works

The on-screen counters show a Balance, a Total Bet and a Total Win field under the reels. Because the bet is spread across 20 lines, the minimum of 0.01 per spin is extremely low, while the 25 maximum keeps the game within reach of most bankrolls.

What Our Spins Showed

The win screens let us check the paytable against real results.

  • Four bald villains across the middle row paid 300.00 – 30x the bet, which matches a paytable value of 600 at 0.50 per line.
  • A line of cars, completed by a wild on the third reel, paid 75.00 – a value of 150 at the same line bet.
  • A spin with the femme fatale and a wild on the fourth reel paid 600.00 on one line, part of a 720.00 total win – 72x the bet.
  • Shooting targets around another wild added 60.00 to a spin.

The biggest results in our session all involved a wild on one of the middle reels, which is exactly what the expanding-wild rule predicts.

Free Spins With a Triple Multiplier

The diamond scatter can land anywhere on the reels. According to the paytable, three, four or five scatters all award 10 free spins, and during the round all wins are multiplied by 3. The screenshot of the trigger shows the banner “FREESPINS 10 – WIN X3” over three diamonds on the first, fourth and fifth reels.

Because the number of spins does not grow with more scatters, the value of the round comes entirely from the x3 multiplier – and from how often the expanding wild shows up during those ten spins.

The Gamble Feature

After a win you can take it to a card gamble. Our screenshot shows 150.00 on the line with a face-down card (an ace of diamonds from a previous round is visible on the left). You can guess the colour for x2 (red or black) or the suit for x4. A wrong guess loses the whole win, so it is a pure double-or-nothing tool for players who want more volatility.

The Numbers to Keep in Mind

The 96% RTP is the only official figure SlotCatalog publishes; volatility is not listed. With 20 lines, an expanding wild on three reels and tripled free spins, the game sits in the middle of the range – regular small hits, with the occasional big spin when a wild reel lines up with premium symbols.

Controls and Presentation

The left edge of the screen holds the utility buttons – full screen, sound, game information and the paytable – while a large circular spin button sits on the right, with a smaller card button above it for the gamble. The paytable itself is a single scrolling page that explains the scatter, the wild and every line in one place, which makes the rules easy to check before you play.

Who It Is For

License to Win suits players who like a straightforward slot with one clear feature to chase. The comic-book artwork gives it character, the stake range starts at just 0.01, and the combination of expanding wilds and a x3 free spins round is easy to follow. If you enjoy a gamble option after a win, it is there as well.
