How we rate games

Every slot is scored on the same four criteria, using the game's published data: RTP (40%), maximum win potential (25%), bonus features described in our review (30%) and how recent the release is (5%). Our editors can adjust a score after playing the game. Missing data counts as neutral. The score reflects the game's numbers and features, not your chances of winning; slots are games of chance, so please play responsibly.

Ho Ho Tree Overview

Ho Ho Tree™ is a Christmas slot from Wizard Games, the in-house studio of Pariplay. Slotcatalog lists its release date as 18 December 2025. It is a small and friendly game: the screen holds only 4 reels and 3 rows, and almost everything exciting comes from the glowing Christmas tree that stands above the reels.

The base game uses 15 paylines, and wins are paid from left to right on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel. During the free spins, the lines are replaced by 81 ways to win. The game rules show an RTP of 95.95% and a hit rate of 39.04%, so about two spins out of five bring a win. Slotcatalog also mentions a lower 93.96% version, so the value can differ from casino to casino. The volatility meter in the rules shows two dots out of five, which means low volatility. Slotcatalog lists a max win of 10,000x the bet and a bet range of 0.10 to 50 per spin.

Theme and Graphics

The game takes place on the snowy main street of a small town at night. Tall houses with warm yellow windows stand on both sides, fairy lights hang from the roofs, and snowflakes fall slowly across the screen. In the middle, a big Christmas tree rises above the reels, full of golden balls and red ribbons, with a star and a “Bonus” sign on top. The red reel set has a candy-cane frame with coloured lights and a row of wrapped gifts along its upper edge. Three jackpot signs – Grand, Major and Minor – hang on the left side.

Symbols and Paytable

The high symbols are four classic Christmas items, and the low symbols are the letters A, K, Q and J, decorated with holly. Because there are only four reels, wins are paid for 3 or 4 matching symbols. At a bet of 20, the paytable showed:

  • Wild (Santa’s sack of gifts): 20 for three and 40 for four,
  • Sleigh: 16 and 32,
  • Wreath: 14 and 28,
  • Bell: 12 and 24,
  • Stocking: 10 and 20.

The Wild substitutes for all symbols. These line wins are small – the best line pays only twice the bet – so the real value of the game is in the multipliers that fall from the tree.

Ball Drop Feature

The Ball Drop is the heart of the game. When a base game spin gives a win and there is a Wild on the reels, the feature can trigger at random. A golden ball then falls from the tree and shows a multiplier of 5x, 8x, 10x, 15x, 20x or 25x, and the whole win of the spin is multiplied by this value.

Respin Feature

The Respin feature can start at random on any base game spin, and a message above the reels reminds you of this. A wheel appears in front of the reels and picks one paying symbol – never the Wild or the Ball. When the reels stop, only this symbol or blank positions can appear. The symbols that land become sticky, and a respin follows. Every time at least one new symbol lands, another respin is given.

The respins end when no new symbol arrives or when all 12 positions are filled with the chosen symbol. After that, the Ball Drop always triggers, and the total win is multiplied by the value of the ball before it is paid.

Bonus Choice

Wild symbols are collected in the base game, and the tree slowly fills with golden balls. The rules say honestly that this collection is only a visual effect and does not influence the trigger: the Bonus starts at random. When it does, you can choose between two rounds: the Hold N Spin bonus with jackpots or 8 free spins with 81 ways and a Wild multiplier. Ball Drop, Respin, Hold N Spin and Free Spins can never trigger on the same spin.

Hold N Spin Bonus

The Hold N Spin round – a Hold and Spin bonus in the usual sense – is played on the same 4x3 grid, but only Ball symbols and Jackpot symbols can land. It starts with 1 symbol and 3 respins. All symbols stay sticky, and each new symbol resets the number of respins to 3. Ball symbols carry values of 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x or 10x the bet. The Jackpot symbols pay fixed prizes:

  • Minor: 25x the total bet,
  • Major: 250x the total bet,
  • Grand: 2,500x the total bet.

When the respins are over or the grid is full, the Ball Drop triggers once more. Up to 8 balls fall from the tree one by one, and each ball enhances one random Ball symbol on the reels with its multiplier. A symbol can be enhanced only once, and Jackpot symbols are never enhanced. At the end, the values of all symbols on the reels are paid.

Free Spins Bonus

The other choice gives 8 free spins on a blue reel set. The 15 lines are replaced by 81 winning ways, so any matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left make a win. The important difference from the base game is that the Ball Drop is guaranteed whenever there is a win and at least one Wild on the reels, so every such win gets a multiplier of 5x to 25x. The free spins cannot be retriggered.

Our Demo Session

We played with a bet of 20. A simple line of Q symbols paid 12, which shows how modest the normal wins are. The Ball Drop changed this quickly: one spin with stockings and a Wild got a 5x ball and paid 300, another with three Wilds on the bottom row paid 290 with a 5x ball, and a screen full of Q symbols with one Wild reached 300 thanks to a 15x ball.

We also saw the Respin wheel spin in front of the reels. Later the Bonus arrived, and we chose the Hold N Spin round. The street turned red, and after the balls from the tree did their work, the grid showed three golden balls worth 300, 480 and 1,200. With a bet of 20, the jackpot signs displayed 500, 5,000 and 50,000.

Who Should Play It

Ho Ho Tree is a good choice for players who like calm, low-volatility games with frequent wins and simple rules. There is no Buy Feature, and all the bonuses start at random, so you only need to spin and watch the tree. Players who want long free spin rounds or huge line wins may find it too gentle. The free demo above shows all the features without any risk.
