Gold Nuggets Overview

Gold Nuggets is a compact hold-and-win slot from Booongo (now trading as 3 Oaks Gaming), released on 14 December 2023. It plays on a 3x3 grid with a single payline and puts almost all of its action into a respin bonus with four fixed jackpots. SlotCatalog lists an RTP of 95.63%, medium volatility, a maximum win of 1,000x and stakes from 0.10 to 60.

The Base Game

With one payline running across the middle row, base-game wins are simple three-of-a-kind hits. The controls sit to the right of the reels: an A button for autoplay, the large green spin button and a lightning bolt for turbo mode. The stake is set with the minus and plus buttons under the BET box.

The Jackpot Ladder

Four jackpots are shown on the left of the reels. At a bet of 10.00 they read:

  • Grand 10,000.00 – 1,000x the bet, the game’s top prize.
  • Major 500.00 – 50x.
  • Minor 200.00 – 20x.
  • Mini 100.00 – 10x.

Nugget Values and Special Symbols

Every gold nugget carries a cash value. At the 10.00 bet our screenshots show values of 10, 16, 20, 30 and 50 – 1x to 5x the stake. Two special symbols join them: a Mystery symbol (a bundle of dynamite) and a Mystery Jackpot gem. Our base-game screenshot shows two of each on the grid at once.

Triggering the Respins

The bonus starts when the nuggets fill the middle row. One of our screenshots shows exactly that – three nuggets worth 10, 20 and 20 across the centre line – and in the next frame they are locked in place with the respin counter set to 3.

From there the round follows the usual hold-and-win rhythm: every new nugget sticks and the counter returns to three, while the progress bar under the grid (marked 1, 2, 3) tracks the remaining spins. A Mystery symbol can land during the round as well and reveals its prize when the respins end.

Another of our bonus screenshots catches the round mid-way: five nuggets worth 20, 10, 20, 20 and 50 – 120 in total, or 12x the bet – sit next to a still-covered Mystery symbol, with all three respins still available. Every extra nugget from that point adds its value on top, and the Mystery symbol can turn into a larger prize.

What a Full Round Paid

Our finished round shows eight of the nine positions filled: nuggets worth 20, 10, 20, 20, 50, 50 and 30 plus a blue MINOR gem. The nuggets add up to 200, the Minor jackpot adds another 200, and the total win meter reads 400.00 – 40x the bet. Filling the last empty cell would have been the route towards the bigger jackpots.

Look and Sound

The reels sit in a wooden mine-shaft frame against a dark red rock wall, with the logo on a heap of gold and coloured gems. The nuggets glow when they land and lock, the Mystery symbol is a red-wrapped bundle of dynamite, and the Mystery Jackpot is a large purple-and-green crystal.

A Studio Family Trait

The fixed four-step jackpot ladder is a 3 Oaks habit. Our review of Tiger Gems shows the same structure with a 1,000x Grand, and Lady Fortune comes from the same studio. Gold Nuggets is the most stripped-down of them: nine positions, one line and the jackpots in full view.

Who It Is For

Gold Nuggets is for players who want the hold-and-win feature without long base-game sessions in between. The single payline keeps the base game simple, and the 1,000x Grand is a clear, visible target.
