Fruit Story: Hold the Spin! Overview

Fruit Story: Hold the Spin! is a classic fruit slot from Gamzix on an enlarged grid of 5 reels and 4 rows with 40 paylines. The Grid and the Symbols

The reels sit in a gold frame on a deep red background dotted with small stars, with the four jackpot plaques along the top. Wins pay for three, four or five matching symbols from the leftmost reel. Every symbol except the scatter can land in stacks, which is why whole reels of sevens or cherries appear in our screenshots.

The Paytable

The paytable screen shows the values at the current stake. At a bet of 10 the red seven pays 200 for five, 50 for four and 20 for three – from 2x to 20x the bet. The watermelon and the grapes pay 100, 20 and 10, which is 1x to 10x. The orange and lemon pay 0.5x to 5x, and the cherries 0.25x to 2.5x.

The Diamond Wild

The wild is a blue diamond marked WILD. It substitutes for all regular symbols except the Bonus coins and the scatter stars, and it pays on its own as well: 2.5x, 10x or 25x the bet. In one of our spins a full stack of diamonds on reel 2 joined the cherries and watermelons around it for a win of 92.50 at a bet of 10, or 9.25x.

Scatter Stars

The star is the scatter and pays from any position: three, four or five stars award 5x, 20x or 100x the bet.

Hold the Spin

The main feature starts when at least six Bonus coins land on the grid; the game announces it with a “Congratulation! Bonus Game” screen. The regular symbols turn into empty silver discs, the gold coins stay in place, and three respins are awarded. Every new coin resets the counter, and the round ends when the respins run out or all 20 positions are filled. In our round the coins showed values of 10, 20 and 30 at a bet of 10, and the counter on the right read “2 Respins”.

The Four Jackpots

The plaques above the reels scale with the stake. At a bet of 10 they read Platinum 50,000, Gold 1,500, Silver 500 and Bronze 200; at a bet of 2 they read 10,000, 300, 100 and 40. Both screenshots give the same multiples: 5,000x, 150x, 50x and 20x. Coins in the bonus can carry multipliers of 1x to 16x, one of the three smaller jackpots or a question mark that reveals a jackpot at the end. Filling the whole grid awards the Platinum prize.

The Card Gamble

After a win you can play the risk game, which is switched off during autoplay. A dealer card is turned face up, and you pick one of four face-down cards to beat it. The gamble can be repeated up to ten times in a row, a Joker beats every other card, and its average payback is 86%, lower than the base game.

Theme and Presentation

The design stays close to a land-based fruit cabinet: glossy fruit on white tiles, a flaming red seven, and the Fruit Story logo with a small “Hold the Spin” banner between the jackpot plaques. The controls sit in a column on the right – sound, autoplay, bet and menu – with the spin button in the middle, and win, bet and balance are shown along the bottom edge.
