The Wild Rhino Overview

The Wild Rhino is a five-reel safari slot from CT Interactive, released in October 2024. It plays on a 5x3 grid with 20 fixed lines, and its signature is a giant rhino wild that covers the three middle reels at once. Free games and the classic CT double-up complete the package.

All figures below were read in the demo at a 10.00 total bet, which is a 0.50 line bet across the twenty lines.

Savannah at Sunset

The reels stand on an African plain at dusk: a pink and orange sky, flat-topped acacia trees and a low sun behind the frame. The symbol set is the animals of the savannah – lion, leopard, giraffe, zebra, iguana and a blue parrot – drawn in a bright, friendly style.

The rhino himself appears only as the wild, and when he lands he fills a 3x3 block across reels two, three and four, grinning out of the middle of the screen with WILD written across him six times.

The Paytable Is Per Line

As in every CT Interactive game we have covered, the paytable shows values per line at the current line bet, not multiples of the total stake. At the 0.50 line bet the lion and the leopard pay 70, 150 and 1,000 for three, four and five.

The giraffe and the zebra pay 60, 100 and 500; the iguana and the parrot pay 40, 70 and 250. Symbols come in pairs sharing a row, which keeps the table simple.

Measured against the 10.00 total bet, five lions on one line are worth 100x, five giraffes 50x and five parrots 25x. Three of the cheapest pair return 4x. Because the lines are fixed, every one of those prizes can land on several lines in the same spin.

The pairing of symbols is worth noting. The two cats sit at the top, the two tall grazers in the middle and the two small creatures at the bottom, and within each pair the prizes are identical. For a player that removes one layer of reading: once you know which row a symbol belongs to, you know exactly what it pays.

The step from four to five of a kind is also steep at the top. Four lions pay 150 but five pay 1,000, almost seven times as much, while the bottom pair only rises from 70 to 250. The game saves most of its value for the full five-reel line.

The Rhino Wild

The rules state that the rhino substitutes for every symbol except the bonus, and that it appears on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th reels only. When it arrives it comes as a full 3x3 block, which means the whole middle of the grid turns wild at once.

With the centre fully wild, any symbol on reel one that is matched on reel five completes every line that runs through them. In our capture a rhino block with lions, giraffes and a zebra on the outer reels paid 194.00 – 19.4x the bet from a single spin.

The top strip announces the moment with a small rhino icon and the words IS WILD, so there is no doubt when the block has landed.

Since the block always covers the same three reels, the outer reels decide how much a rhino spin is worth. A premium on reel one and the same premium on reel five turns the rhino into a line machine; a mismatch on the edges can leave the block paying very little. That is the tension of every rhino spin.

Free Games

The bonus symbol appears on the first reel only, and the rules add that it does not appear during free games. The header above the reels spells out the trigger: the bonus symbol plus the rhino gives 12 FREE GAMES.

In other words the feature needs the bonus on reel one and the rhino block in the middle on the same spin. That pairing is what makes the round rarer than a simple three-scatter trigger, and it also means every free games round begins with the rhino already in view.

One of our captures shows the trigger strip lit while the base game paid a small 12.50 win from a row of parrots, which is a useful reminder that the header is a standing rule, not a win notice.

The Double-Up

CT’s gamble is included and follows the studio’s standard rules. It is offered only after a win of less than 10x the total bet, and if you do not choose within five seconds the start button turns into cancel and the game moves on.

On the double-up screen a card lies face down. Guess the colour for x2 or the suit for x4, and a 1/2 button lets you gamble half the win while banking the other half. A strip across the top shows the 10 previous cards. In our capture a 210.00 win was on the table with a seven of clubs just drawn.

Twenty Fixed Lines

The lines are printed on the rules screen, twenty patterns across the 5x3 grid, and the numbers down both sides of the reels mark where each one starts. The lines are fixed, so the only stake choice is the line bet, which the game multiplies by twenty.

The demo ran in FUN currency with a 0.01 denomination shown in the corner.

How Big Can It Get

The largest single line prize is 1,000 at a 0.50 line bet, or 100x the total bet. A screen with the rhino block in the middle and matching premium symbols on reels one and five is the route to the top of the game, because the wild completes many lines at once.

The 1,000x ceiling quoted for the game is ten times the best single line, which is consistent with a rhino board paying the lion or leopard on most of the twenty lines. We did not see a win of that size in our session.

For planning a session, the per-line figures convert easily: divide by twenty to read them against a line bet, or multiply by the ratio of your total bet to 10.00. At a 1.00 total bet, five lions are worth 100.00; at 20.00 they are worth 2,000.00. The ratios never change, only the currency amounts.

The double-up cut-off follows the same logic. Anything below ten times your total bet can be gambled, so at a 10.00 bet every win up to 99.99 gets the offer, and anything larger is paid straight to the balance.

Who Should Play It

The Wild Rhino is for players who like a straightforward CT slot with one big visual moment. Almost everything depends on the rhino block: it is the wild, half of the free games trigger and the key to the largest boards.

The reservations are the usual ones for this studio. The per-line paytable can mislead at a glance, the free games need two symbols together, and there is no published volatility figure to set expectations. Read the table against your total bet and the game is easy to follow.
