One Coin Overview

One Coin is a single-reel jackpot game from Wazdan, released under its VoltEnt label. There is just one oversized position on the screen, and every spin is about what lands in it. SlotCatalog lists a return of 96.17%, a maximum win of 500x the stake and a bet range from €0.20 to €10,000. The game came out as an exclusive on 5 September 2024, and went into wide release on 10 October 2024.

The numbers in this review come from our demo session, played at a stake of 1,000 FUN.

A Single Golden Frame

The game screen is a large golden frame on a cosmic purple-blue background, with the One Coin logo and the four jackpot plaques on the right. Before a spin the frame shows a “Hold the Jackpot” sign, and after it one coin, a jackpot symbol or a blank.

At a 1,000 FUN stake the plaques read GRAND 500,000, MAJOR 50,000, MINOR 20,000 and MINI 10,000. The top prize is exactly the published 500x maximum, so the jackpot is the ceiling of the game.

The Hold the Jackpot Bonus Game

The bonus game is what One Coin is built around. Its intro screen shows every prize it can hold:

– the Grand symbol, worth 500x (you have to hold it to collect the Grand jackpot)
– the Major, Minor and Mini symbols, worth 50x, 20x and 10x
– a Mystery symbol, worth anything from 1x to 100x
– a diamond multiplier from x2 to x10

The round runs on 3 respins, and the counter resets to 3 whenever something new lands. The bonus symbol screen confirms that the Mini, Minor and Major symbols simply award the matching jackpot, with the values printed as multiples on coloured ribbons: Major 50x, Minor 20x and Mini 10x. The in-game rules run to eight pages, and the arrows at the bottom of the screen step through them.

How Our Bonus Round Played Out

Our round started strongly: a Mystery symbol opened to 19,000 – x19 the stake. A MINI followed and pushed the total to 31,000, then a MAJOR added 50,000 for a total of 81,000.

A final coin worth 2,000 brought the round to 83,000 FUN – 83x the stake. The counter was back on 3 after every step, which is how a single bonus game can keep going.

Chance Level and the Gamble Game

A Chance Level panel on the left of the screen raises the stake to improve the odds of the bonus game. It has four settings: OFF, x2, x5 and x10. With x5 selected on our 1,000 stake, the total bet on the panel read 5,000.

The multiplier goes onto the price of the spin, not onto the jackpots, so it is a way to reach the bonus game more often at a higher cost per spin.

Wins can be gambled in a Guess the Colour game: pick red or black on the face-down card. A correct guess doubles the win – in our capture, 15,000 FUN on offer against 30,000 for a right answer, with seven steps on the ladder above the card.

As with any double-or-nothing gamble, the expected return does not change, only the variance.

The Jackpots as Multiples

Because the plaques always show cash for the current stake, it is easy to read them as multiples. At 1,000 FUN the Mini is 10x, the Minor 20x, the Major 50x and the Grand 500x. The Mystery symbol can land anywhere between 1x and 100x, so a good Mystery can be worth more than the Major, and the diamond multiplier can scale a win by up to ten times.

Our 19x Mystery was a typical example: worth almost the Minor on its own, and enough to make the rest of the round a bonus.

How the Session Moved

We started the captures with a balance of 55,000 FUN. After the bonus round described above, and with the Chance Level set to x5, the balance stood at 104,000 FUN – nearly double the starting figure. A single-reel game can move that quickly, because almost all of its value sits in one feature.

Volatility You Can Choose

SlotCatalog lists One Coin’s volatility as adjustable: you can pick a low, standard or high setting. This is a Wazdan tradition, and it lets you decide whether you want a steadier game or one that holds out for the big jackpots.
