3 China Pots Overview

3 China Pots is a Hold and Win slot from Booongo (listed under the 3 Oaks name on SlotCatalog, the studio’s newer brand). It plays on 5 reels and 3 rows with 25 fixed lines, and its whole identity sits in three coloured pots above the reels – blue EXTRA, red DOUBLE and purple MULTI – that change the bonus round when they are filled.

SlotCatalog lists an RTP of 95.68%, bets from €0.25 to €60 and a release on 15 April 2024 as an exclusive launch, with the wide release on 25 April. It gives no volatility rating and no maximum win, so our data box leaves those open. The figures below come from our demo session at a bet of 10.00.

Gold, Tigers and Red Lanterns

The reels stand in front of a pagoda under a violet evening sky. The top symbol is a young woman in a red and gold headdress, followed by a tiger, a golden ingot, a bonsai money tree and a golden figure, with the card letters A, K, Q and J drawn in red, blue and orange. Above the grid the three pots overflow with gold coins, and the four jackpot plaques run down the left side.

Gold bonus coins carry a cash value and are the symbols that start the main feature. In one of our spins a coin marked 30.00 sat in the top-left corner while the line wins were paid around it.

The screen is laid out for play on a phone as much as on a desktop. The spin button is a large green circle on the right, with an autoplay button marked A above it and a turbo button below. Balance, last win and bet run along the bottom bar, and the bet is changed with plus and minus buttons on either side of the stake.

The Paytable

At our 10.00 bet the paytable shows the woman at 100.00 for five, 30.00 for four and 6.00 for three – so five of the top symbol are worth 10x the bet. The tiger pays 80.00, 20.00 and 4.00. The ingot, the money tree and the golden figure share a line of 50.00, 10.00 and 2.00, and the four card letters all pay 20.00, 4.00 and 2.00.

The 25 lines are printed on the last page of the rules as small diagrams, including the usual straight rows, V shapes and zig-zags.

Because all four middle symbols and all four letters share the same values, the paytable is quicker to learn than most. The real split is between the woman and the tiger at the top and everything else below them – a five-of-a-kind of letters pays a fifth of the top prize.

Four Fixed Jackpots

The plaques on the left read GRAND 20,000.00, MAJOR 1,000.00, MINOR 300.00 and MINI 150.00 at our bet – that is 2,000x, 100x, 30x and 15x. SlotCatalog describes the Grand as the prize for a completely full grid, and the other three as values a bonus coin can carry.

The Hold and Win Round and the Three Pots

The bonus is a classic Hold and Win: the coins lock in place, the counter starts at 3 respins, and every new coin resets it. SlotCatalog describes what each pot adds when it is active. EXTRA raises the respins to four. DOUBLE adds a second, independent grid and copies the coins that triggered the round onto it. MULTI places random multipliers from 2x to 10x on coin positions. According to SlotCatalog, the coins themselves are worth 1x to 10x the bet.

Our captures show the DOUBLE version. The screen split into two grids, one above the other, with the red pot glowing on the left. Each grid started with two coins – 30.00 and 50.00 – and the respin counter on the right read 3.

SlotCatalog says the round is started by the coloured pot symbols, and which pot takes part decides the variant you play. Because the DOUBLE pot copies the starting coins onto the second grid, a round that opens with a few good values effectively starts twice. Each grid then fills on its own, and the two totals are added at the end.

What the Session Did

By the end of that round both grids were well covered with coins worth 10.00, 20.00, 30.00 and 50.00, the counter had run down to 0, and the total at the bottom read 540.00 – 54x the bet. The balance rose from 198.00 to 738.00 as the win was added.

Across the captures the balance moved between roughly 726.00 and 984.00 in the base game, with a noticeably deeper dip to 198.00 just before the bonus arrived – a reminder that the base game alone does not carry a session and that the Hold and Win round is what brings the balance back.

The base game was steadier. Line wins of 50.00, 56.00 and 92.00 came from ingots and stacks of the woman, and the best base spin was a BIG WIN of 150.00 (15x) with the top symbol covering most of reels 1, 4 and 5.

The Numbers to Keep in Mind

A 95.68% return is a little below the market average. The line wins are modest – the best symbol pays 10x for five – so most of the game’s value sits in the Hold and Win round and in which pot is active when it starts. The 2,000x Grand is the headline prize, and with the DOUBLE pot two grids are in play at once. The bet range of €0.25 to €60 is wide enough for both short, cheap sessions and larger stakes.

Who Should Play It

3 China Pots suits players who like the Hold and Win format and want a little variety in it. The three pots mean that no two bonus rounds look quite the same, while the base game with its 25 lines stays simple and easy to follow.
