Golden Penny x1000 Overview

Golden Penny x1000 is a Playson pay-anywhere game on a six-by-five grid, and the number in the title is not decoration. It is the top of the free spins multiplier range, printed on the buy menu in exactly those terms: MULTIPLIERS: x2 – x1000.

That range, applied to a cascading grid, is how a game whose best cluster pays 50x reaches a published ceiling of 20,000x the bet.

Theme and Graphics

The setting is a sunlit Irish meadow – rolling green under a pale blue sky, trees in soft focus at the edges, and a rainbow arcing over the screen when the buy menu opens. A red-bearded leprechaun in a green frock coat and buckled hat stands to the left of the reels, flipping a gold coin.

The symbols split cleanly in two. The high group is Irish iconography rendered in gold and colour: a horseshoe on red, a harp on green, a foaming beer mug with a triquetra on the side, and a purple bag spilling coins. Below them sit plain cut gems – red, blue, green, purple and orange – on pale tiles.

Pay Anywhere on Thirty Positions

There are no paylines. Wins are counted by how many matching symbols land anywhere on the grid, banded as 8–9, 10–11 and 12 or more.

Thirty positions with a minimum cluster of eight puts the threshold at a little over a quarter of the board. All figures below come from demo play at a 10.00 bet, except where the buy menu is quoted – that capture runs at 2.00.

A panel beneath the leprechaun lists each cluster as it pays, with the symbol count on the left and the amount on the right. It is a small touch, but it turns a multi-cluster cascade from a single number into a legible breakdown.

Symbols and Paytable

The horseshoe leads at 500.00 for twelve or more, 100.00 for ten or eleven and 50.00 for eight or nine. Against the 10.00 stake that is 50x, 10x and 5x.

The harp follows at 200.00 / 50.00 / 20.00 – 20x, 5x and 2x – then the beer mug at 150.00 for twelve or more and the pot of gold at 100.00, or 15x and 10x at the top band.

Look at the horseshoe’s own ladder. Eight symbols pay 50.00, ten pay 100.00, twelve pay 500.00. The step from the middle band to the top is a five-fold jump, while the step below it is only a doubling. The value is concentrated in the twelve-plus band for every symbol on the table.

What the Gems Actually Pay

The gems are where most spins land, and the demo shows what they are worth. One capture records a nine-symbol cluster paying 2.00 on a 10.00 stake – a fifth of the bet. Another breaks an 86.00 result into its parts: an eleven-symbol cluster at 50.00, and three eight-symbol clusters at 7.50, 4.00 and 2.50.

Read that second list carefully. Four separate clusters landed on one spin, and three of them together were worth 14.00 – barely more than the stake. The single eleven-cluster carried the result almost on its own.

The Multiplier Orbs

Green orbs carrying multiplier values drop onto the grid alongside the symbols. The demo catches two on the same board, reading x3 and x4, with cluster values of 5.00 and 2.50 floating beside them.

They are also present in the base game, not reserved for the feature – which matters, because on a cascading grid an orb that survives one clearing round can apply to whatever forms beneath it. Wilds appear on the same boards, marked plainly on gold plates.

The Buy Menu: Two Multiplier Ranges

The BONUS button beneath the leprechaun opens a rainbow-framed menu with exactly two options, and what separates them is not the number of spins but the range the multipliers are drawn from.

FREE SPINS – multipliers x2 to x1000 – 200.00.
SUPER FREE SPINS – multipliers x10 to x1000 – 1,000.00.

At the 2.00 bet shown on that screen those price at 100x and 500x the stake. Five times the money, the same ceiling, and a floor lifted from x2 to x10.

That is an unusually honest way to sell a premium round. The expensive option does not promise a bigger maximum – it promises that the worst multiplier you can draw is five times better. On a feature where the whole outcome depends on which values land, raising the floor is worth more than it sounds.

RTP, Volatility and Max Win

The maximum win is 20,000x the bet. Playson does not publish an RTP figure or a volatility rating for this title on the public data sheet, so those fields are left empty here rather than filled with an estimate.

The structure is explicit enough to stand in for a rating. A paytable topping out at 50x, a base game that produces four-cluster spins worth a fraction of the stake, and a feature whose multipliers run from x2 to x1000 is about as clear a description of high variance as a game can give without printing the word.

The arithmetic closes neatly, too: 50x from the best cluster, multiplied by the x1000 at the top of the range, lands well past the 20,000x ceiling – which tells you the maximum is reached by a good cluster meeting a large multiplier, not by filling the board.
