Aztec Spell – Hold & Hit 3x3 is a jungle slot from Spinomenal, released on 8 June 2026. It plays on a 3x3 grid with 5 paylines, returns 96.28% at medium volatility and tops out at 5,000x the bet. Four jackpots sit above the reels and the entire game is built to reach them.

A Temple In The Rainforest

The grid stands in a misty blue-green jungle, broad palm fronds either side and the stepped tiers of a stone pyramid rising directly behind it. The AZTEC SPELL logo sits across the top of the frame in carved green letters, with the pyramid’s peak visible above it.

The symbols are Mesoamerican animals on coloured stone tablets: a red jaguar, an orange monkey, a green hummingbird and a blue serpent. A, K, Q and J fill the rest in weathered stone lettering, and a golden Aztec sun mask ringed in fire carries the WILD label.

Nine Positions, Three Of A Kind

On a 3x3 grid every win is a three-of-a-kind, so the paytable has only one column. At the 50 bet our session ran at:

Jaguar – 1,500, or 30x
Monkey – 1,000, or 20x
Hummingbird – 800, or 16x
Serpent – 800, or 16x
A, K, Q – 200, or 4x
J – 50, or 1x

Two things are worth noticing. The hummingbird and the serpent are identical in value despite looking like different tiers, so the animals are really three ranks rather than four. And the jack is an outlier at the bottom – a quarter of what the ace, king and queen pay, and worth exactly the stake back. Everything else in the low group is four times your money; the jack is a consolation.

What The Wilds Did

The sun mask substitutes, and on a three-reel grid it is worth far more than a wild usually is – there are only five lines, and a mask covering a position sits on several of them at once.

Our best base-game screen had three masks on the board, two stacked on the middle reel and one on the left. The line readout underneath read LINE WIN: 1,500 and the total came to 2,300 – 46x the stake from a screen whose only real symbols were kings and a jaguar.

The Coins Are The Point

Alongside the animals, gold coins land on the grid carrying cash values. Some arrive as plain discs with the number stamped on them; others arrive as a swirling ball of fire that burns away to reveal the figure underneath.

The values we saw were 50, 100, 250, 350 and 1,200 – against the 50 bet that is 1x, 2x, 5x, 7x and 24x per coin. The flaming coins carried the larger numbers in every case, which makes the reveal animation a genuine signal rather than decoration.

Inside Hold & Hit

When enough coins land the animals disappear and the grid becomes a coin board with a respin counter – three small numbered boxes, 1 2 3, under the reels. Land a new coin and they reset; miss three times and the round ends.

Our board filled with two 50 coins, two flaming 1,200 coins and – crucially – two green coins marked MINI rather than with a number. That is how the jackpots are reached: not from the reels, but by landing jackpot-marked coins inside this round.

Nine positions is a small board, which cuts both ways. A full grid is achievable in a way it never is on a 5x4 layout, but the ceiling of any single round is nine coins – so the round wants jackpot coins rather than a long fill.

Four Jackpots Above The Reels

The plaques run across the top in two rows, and at our 50 bet they read:

GRAND – 50,000, or 1,000x
MAJOR – 7,500, or 150x
MINOR – 2,500, or 50x
MINI – 1,250, or 25x

The gaps are uneven in a telling way. Mini to Minor is a doubling, Minor to Major is three times, and Major to Grand is nearly seven. The three lower rungs are ordinary session results – the Mini at 25x is roughly what one flaming 1,200 coin is worth – and then the Grand sits a long way above all of them.

Note also that the Grand at 1,000x is only a fifth of the published 5,000x ceiling. Reaching the maximum needs the top jackpot alongside a board of large coins, which on nine positions is a demanding combination.

The Buy Button

A BUY button sits directly beside the spin control rather than tucked into a menu, which tells you how central the feature is to Spinomenal’s design here. The base game is thin by intention – three-of-a-kind jacks returning the stake, aces at 4x – and the coins are where the money has been placed.

96.28% At Medium Volatility

That return is slightly above average and the medium rating is honest for the format. A 3x3 grid resolves quickly and cheaply: our balance moved between 950 and 7,150 across the session, which is a wide range in relative terms but never a collapse.

The trade in a game this small is variety. There are six symbols, five lines and one feature, and you will have seen everything the base game can do within a few minutes. What keeps it interesting is the coin board and the four plaques above it.

What The Bet Changes

Everything scales with the stake, jackpots included. Our screenshots were taken at 50, where the Grand is 50,000 and a jaguar line pays 1,500. Halve the bet and every figure halves – the multiples, 1,000x down to 1x on the jack, never move.

More From Spinomenal

Spinomenal runs this exact 3x3 format across several themes. The Midnight Steamer – Hold & Hit 3x3 is the closest relative, and Blazing Rhino – Blast the Bonus 3x3 puts a different feature on the same small grid.

Who It Is For

Aztec Spell – Hold & Hit 3x3 is for players who want a jackpot chase without a long climb. Nine positions, five lines, one wild and a coin round that can realistically fill the whole board – it is compact, quick and completely legible. The 96.28% return is fair, the flaming coins carry the big numbers, and the Mini and Minor plaques are close enough to be regular results rather than dreams. What you give up is depth: a six-symbol paytable on a three-reel grid has nowhere to hide.
