Golden Crown Halloween Overview

Golden Crown Halloween is a Fazi fruit machine in a pumpkin costume: ten fixed lines, a classic symbol set, an expanding crown wild and two different scatter symbols that obey two different rules. It is the Halloween edition of the studio's Golden Crown line, and the seasonal dressing goes no further than the artwork.

Two things stand out once you open the rules. The seven's paytable climbs in exact powers of ten, and the two scatters are governed by two entirely different conditions – one pays from anywhere on the grid, the other only from the first, third and fifth reels.

Theme and Graphics

The reels sit against a deep purple wall draped in cobwebs, with carved jack-o'-lanterns glowing orange in all four corners and a pair of giant pumpkins flanking the grid. The symbols are the usual fruit-machine cast – a red seven, a golden bell, cherries, lemon, orange, plum, grapes and watermelon – and the golden crown wild is lifted straight from the non-seasonal version.

Winning symbols drop onto a bed of flame, which is the studio's house animation, and the whole grid is outlined in gold when a line pays.

Ten Fixed Lines

The game runs on 10 fixed paylines, with the count printed in a box beside the bet. All figures below come from demo play at a 500.00 total bet – 50.00 per line across the ten.

The rules screen then states something most slots do not: “Highest payline win only paid.”

This is the standard settlement rule stated explicitly: where a single payline could be read as holding more than one winning combination – a three-of-a-kind sitting inside a five-of-a-kind, for instance – the line is paid at the larger figure only, not at both. Different lines still pay independently of one another.

It is worth having in writing, because on a ten-line grid with a symbol that pays from two of a kind the situation comes up constantly. Every payline carrying a pair of sevens also carries the possibility of a longer run, and the rule removes any ambiguity about how that gets settled.

Symbols and the Seven's Decimal Ladder

The red seven leads, and its progression is unusually tidy. At the 500.00 stake it pays 500.00 for two, 2,500.00 for three, 25,000.00 for four and 250,000.00 for five.

Read those as multipliers and they are 1x, 5x, 50x and 500x the bet. The last two steps multiply the prize by exactly ten each time – a clean decimal ladder of a kind you rarely see in a paytable, where the usual pattern is a messy three- or four-fold climb.

Below it the table is conventional. The mixed watermelon-and-grapes symbol pays 35,000.00 / 6,000.00 / 2,000.00 – 70x, 12x and 4x. The bell manages 10,000.00 / 2,000.00 / 1,000.00, and the four cheap fruits share the bottom rung at 7,500.00 / 1,500.00 / 500.00, which is 15x, 3x and 1x.

So the seven's five-of-a-kind is worth more than seven times the next best symbol, and the gap between it and the cheapest fruit is thirty-three-fold. Like the crown, it also pays from two of a kind – the only symbol in the game that does.

Two Different Scatters

This is the game's most unusual piece of design, and the rules spell it out: scatter symbols pay at any position on screen, and scatter symbols pay at anywhere on 1st, 3rd and 5th reels. Two sentences, two different symbols, two different rules.

The blue pumpkin is the free-roaming scatter, paying from anywhere on the grid: 50,000.00 for five, 10,000.00 for four and 2,500.00 for three – 100x, 20x and 5x the bet. At 100x for five it is the second most valuable symbol in the game after the seven.

The orange pumpkin is restricted to the first, third and fifth reels, and has only one entry in the paytable: 10,000.00 for three, or 20x the bet. Three is the maximum it can reach, since there are only three reels it is allowed to land on.

It is an elegant piece of design. One symbol rewards coverage anywhere; the other rewards a specific, visible pattern across alternating reels, and cannot be diluted by landing in the wrong place.

The Expanding Crown Wild

The crown is the wild, and it is confined to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th reels, where it substitutes for all symbols on the same reel except the two scatters. When it lands it expands to fill its whole column.

The demo tracks the effect precisely. One crown on reel two produced a 2,000.00 win – 4x the bet. A spin with crowns and lemons together paid 3,000.00, or 6x. And crowns filling both reels two and three returned 5,000.00 – ten times the stake.

Two expanded reels is worth considerably more than one, and not only because more symbols are covered: a wild column on reels two and three contributes to every one of the ten lines passing through both, so a single spin can settle several of them at once.

RTP, Volatility and Max Win

The RTP is 95.96%, effectively the modern standard. Volatility is rated Medium and the maximum win is 1,538x the bet.

That ceiling is modest, and it sits only three times above the seven's own five-of-a-kind at 500x – which tells you the game has no hidden multiplier engine waiting to multiply a good line into a great one. What you see on the paytable is close to what the game can do.

What carries a session, then, is the crown. It is the only element capable of turning a routine grid into a ten-times result, and with the wild confined to the three middle reels, watching those three columns is most of the game.
