Football Blast Hold and Win is a football-themed slot from Kalamba Games, launched on 13 June 2024. It plays on 5 reels and 3 rows with 243 ways to win, and Kalamba’s own game data rates its volatility at 9 out of 10, gives a hit frequency of 37.2% and lists a maximum coinciding win of 26,000x the bet.

It is a follow-up to Kalamba’s 2022 Football Blast, which used 20 paylines and had a 10,206x ceiling; the Hold and Win edition swaps the lines for 243 ways and adds cash-ball respins and jackpots. The figures below come from our own demo session, played at a bet of FUN 90.00.

A Stadium Full of Fruit

The reels stand on a green pitch in front of a floodlit stadium, but the symbols are classic fruit-machine icons: cherries, lemons, oranges, plums, grapes and watermelons, together with bells, BAR blocks, blue diamonds and red 7s. The football theme comes in through the special symbols – flaming footballs carry cash values, gold BONUS tickets start the free spins, and trophy-shaped wilds appear during the bonus.

On the left sits the HyperBet panel with up and down arrows, which lets you change the bet level of the game, and below the reels a Buy Bonus button opens the feature shop.

How the 243 Ways Work

The game’s own help screen explains the ways system: 3 × 3 × 3 × 3 × 3 = 243. Symbols pay in any position on consecutive columns from the left, and only the highest matching combination for each symbol is paid, so a symbol that appears twice on one reel counts as two separate ways.

The same screen illustrates this with four small grids – a full 243-way board, a plain three of a kind, a three of a kind that pays on two ways because one reel holds the symbol twice, and a broken sequence that pays nothing. It also notes that the paytable always reflects the current bet configuration, so the values you see change with your stake.

Our first captured win shows how this works: several bells and BONUS tickets across the grid, and a FUN 180.00 payout on the 90.00 bet – 2x the stake from the base game.

Four Cashpots Above the Reels

Four plaques run along the top of the screen. At our stake and bet level they read MINI 300, MINOR 750, MAJOR 7,500 and MAXI 150,000. Kalamba lists an in-game cashpot for the title, and the plaques are always visible, so you can see what the top prizes are worth before you spin.

The Hold and Win Round

Enough flaming footballs on the reels award the Hold and Win round with 3 spins. The game’s own award screen spells out the two rules: “Each new locked Hold and Win symbol resets number of spins”, and “Lock all positions to win full-grid prize”.

The award screen illustrates both rules with two small example grids: one where the spin counter has run down to zero with a few cells still open, and one where every position is locked and a prize tag appears above the board.

In our round the grid filled up to 14 of 15 positions. The balls carried values from 12.00 to 150.00 – 90.00, 15.00, 150.00, 90.00 and 75.00 on the top row, 90.00, 19.50, 12.00, 90.00 and 90.00 in the middle, and 120.00, 18.00, 150.00 and 120.00 on the bottom – which adds up to 1,129.50, or about 12.5x the bet, before any extras.

A large ball beside the grid displayed 1,800.00, which appears to be the full-grid prize at this stake – 20x the bet on top of the ball values. In our round a single empty cell in the bottom row stood between us and that prize when the spins ran out.

Free Spins With Wild Multipliers

Three BONUS tickets award 10 free spins. The award screen shows the two free-spin extras: wilds with a random multiplier of x3 or x5, and a special symbol that adds extra free spins, pictured with a +20 tag.

Our round is a good example of how the features stack. At spin 4 of 10 a single spin with flaming balls paid 652.50, and the total stood at 832.50. Later a ball landed with +3 extra spins, taking the count to 13, and one spin with two x2 wilds paid 1,809.60 by itself. At that point the round total was 3,778.80 – about 42x the bet.

The 652.50 spin came from flaming balls stacked on the right-hand reels together with sevens and diamonds, while the 1,809.60 spin used wilds on the top row and the middle reel alongside a pair of red 7s – both are ways wins boosted by the extras rather than single-line hits.

Buying the Features

The Buy Bonus menu offers two options at a FUN 90.00 bet: 20 free spins with golden symbols for FUN 6,000.00, and 3 Hold and Win spins labelled “only Super Hold and Win” for FUN 3,000.00. That is roughly 67x and 33x the stake. Kalamba lists the HyperBonus buy as a standard feature of the game.

What the Session Did

The balance stood at FUN 9,408.10 while the free spins and the Hold and Win round were running, and at FUN 13,186.90 when we opened the Buy Bonus menu afterwards. The difference is exactly the 3,778.80 recorded at the end of the free-spin captures, so the session gained roughly 42 bets in one feature.

The smaller results were less dramatic. The base game paid 180.00 for a spin full of bells and tickets, and between the big hits the free-spin total crept up by a few units at a time, from 832.50 to 834.90.

What Kalamba’s Data Says

Kalamba’s portfolio sheet fills in the rest of the profile. The game runs on desktop and mobile, has a free-spins feature, special wilds, an in-game cashpot and the HyperBonus buy-in, and it has no gamble feature and no “win both ways” option. The Numbers to Keep in Mind

A 9-out-of-10 volatility rating is at the top of Kalamba’s scale, and the 26,000x ceiling reflects that. The 37.2% hit frequency means that something lands on more than one spin in three, but the base-game wins are mostly small fruit combinations, and the real money is in the two features.

Kalamba does not publish an RTP figure in its game data for this title, and SlotCatalog only lists the original 2022 Football Blast, so we leave the RTP field open rather than borrow a figure from the older game.

Who Should Play It

Football Blast Hold and Win suits players who like high-volatility hold-and-win games and do not mind long quiet stretches between features. With a top rating on Kalamba’s volatility scale, the session-to-session results can vary a great deal, and a short session may never reach either bonus. The visible cashpots, the reset counter and the extra-spin symbol make both bonus rounds easy to follow.
