Dragon King Megaways Overview

Dragon King Megaways is a Lunar New Year slot from GameArt, released on 6 February 2024. It uses the Megaways engine on a 6-reel grid with up to 117,649 ways to win, plus a horizontal reel above the main grid. The game’s own configuration gives a 96.57% RTP and a maximum win of 10,000x – the banner in the top-left corner reads “Win up to 10000 X”. Megaways and the Top Reel

Every spin changes the height of each reel, so the number of ways changes too. The counter in the top-right corner tracked this in our screenshots: 1,296, 1,440, 1,620, 2,000, 3,600 and 6,120 ways on different spins. The extra horizontal reel above reels two to five adds symbols to those columns and changes with every spin.

Wins cascade: winning symbols explode in fire and the gaps are filled from above, so a single spin can pay several times. Our base-game screenshot at a $40 bet showed such a tumble paying $4.00.

The Symbols

The low symbols are jade-and-gold coin medallions in five colours. The high symbols are traditional lucky charms: a golden coin tassel, a jade frog on a pile of coins, a stone turtle, a red and a green dragon, and floating paper lanterns. The golden dragon head is the WILD, and it often arrives with its own multiplier badge – x2 in our free spins.

The four snapshots also show how unevenly the value of a free spins round is spread. Between spins 8 and 12 the total grew by $88.50, while the multiplier moved from x3 to x5. Between spins 12 and 14 it grew by another $81.00 – a single cascade at x15. From spin 14 to spin 22 it added $144.50, most of it from one $130.10 win at x20.
