Crown of Camelot Overview

Crown of Camelot is a 3-reel slot from Rival Gaming, released on 20 May 2024. It plays on a 3x3 grid with 5 paylines, and it takes the legend of King Arthur as its theme. Its one feature is a set of sticky crown wilds with multipliers that trigger respins.

SlotCatalog lists an RTP of 94.3% and high volatility, with bets from 0.25 to 15 per spin. Rival has not published a maximum win. All the amounts below come from our session at the top bet of 15.

A Castle on the Hill

For a three-reel game, Crown of Camelot looks unusually rich. The reels sit in gold Gothic arches in front of a sunny landscape, with the towers of Camelot on a hill to the left and green hills and a wooden fence to the right. A red banner with the game’s name and a small crown hangs above the reels.

There is not a single fruit in the game. The characters of the legend fill the high end of the paytable – King Arthur, Guinevere and a knight in armour among them – and the lower symbols are the objects of the court: Excalibur, a knight’s helmet, the Holy Grail, Camelot Castle, a shield and an archery target.

Five Lines, Three Reels

A win needs three matching symbols on one of the five lines. With only three reels, each line is short, and a spin either lines up or it does not. The paytable in the game’s help window lists every symbol with its prize for three of a kind.

At our bet of 15, a line of three shields paid 9, a line of three Grails paid 15 (1x the bet) and three knights across the top row paid 75, or 5x. The small prizes come often; the character symbols carry the real value.

The Crown Wilds

The wild is a green and gold crown on a red field. Each reel has its own version, and each carries a fixed multiplier:

  • Reel 1 – Wild 2x
  • Reel 2 – Wild 3x
  • Reel 3 – Wild 4x

A wild substitutes for the other symbols. When it can contribute to a win, it becomes sticky and the game gives a respin. If a new wild lands during that respin, it sticks as well, and the sequence continues.

How the Multipliers Stack

The multiplier wilds are where the game’s value lies. Our screenshots show the Wild 2x and the Wild 3x standing side by side on reels 1 and 2, on the middle row, so the middle line carries both of them. The captures do not show whether the two multipliers add up or multiply, so we do not quote a combined figure.

In practice this made a clear difference. With the two wilds locked in the middle row, one respin sequence reached a total win of 216 (14.4x the bet), and in another, with the same two wilds in place, the total reached 180 (12x). During these respins, piles of gold and treasure chests appear on both sides of the reels.

Why the Wild Placement Matters

Because each reel has its own multiplier, where a wild lands matters as much as whether it lands. A wild on reel 3 carries the biggest multiplier, 4x, but it can only complete a line that the first two reels have already started. The wild on reel 1, by contrast, only doubles the win.

The respin rule turns this into a small puzzle on every spin. Once a wild is stuck in place, each respin is a fresh chance for another one to join it on a neighbouring reel. The longer the sequence runs, the more lines carry a multiplier, and the respin totals in our screenshots are the result of exactly that kind of chain.

In Our Session

Our screenshots show a balance moving between roughly 1,700 and 2,120 at the top bet of 15. The ordinary line wins of 9 to 75 kept the balance ticking over between the wild sequences, and the two respin chains with the 2x and 3x crowns brought the biggest jumps. We did not see all three crowns on the reels at once.

Bets and Controls

The controls are kept simple. The bet box at the bottom right runs from 0.25 to 15, the balance sits at the bottom left, and the line win and total win appear between them. Two round buttons on the right control the spins.

Who Should Play It

Crown of Camelot suits players who like the pace of a three-reel slot but want more than fruit and bars. The sticky multiplier wilds give the game a clear goal on every spin, and the respins keep it lively. The RTP of 94.3% is on the low side, and the high volatility means you will see quiet stretches between the wild sequences.

Our Verdict

Crown of Camelot is one of the best-looking three-reel games we have seen, and its multiplier wilds are a smart fit for the format. It is a simple game at heart, but the chance to line up all three crowns keeps every spin interesting. The free demo above lets you try the wild respins before you play for real money.
