Yukon Fever OverviewYukon Fever is a Gold Rush slot from Mascot Gaming, released on 26 March 2024 according to the studio’s own game page. It plays on 5 reels and 3 rows with just 5 paylines, and SlotCatalog lists an RTP of 95.52% and medium volatility. The banner above the reels promises wins of up to x5000 the bet. The game is built around one idea: Transformed Wilds, where up to seven symbols can turn into Wild symbols. On top of that there is a card Gamble for every win. Mascot named Yukon Fever its Game of the Month for April 2024, and the free demo above runs on Mascot’s own demo server, so you can try it without registration. Gold Rush in the SnowThe reels are a weathered wooden frame covered in snow, set in a wintry Klondike valley with pine trees, log cabins and falling snowflakes. A bare tree on the right holds a column of grey, framed symbol portraits, and a lantern hangs on the left. The Yukon Fever logo sits in the top-left corner, with the feature banner running across the top of the screen. The symbols tell the story of the gold rush. The four characters are a bandit in a wide-brimmed hat, a bearded prospector, a woman in a red-banded hat and an old miner. The lower-paying symbols are mining gear and loot: a gold nugget, a sheriff’s star, a saddlebag of coins, a revolver and an oil lantern. When a lantern turns into a Wild it glows red and carries the WILD label. Five Lines, Simple RulesThe five bet lines are the three straight rows plus a V and an inverted V. According to the rules, only the highest win per bet line is paid, and all prizes are for combinations from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. The game is played with fixed bet lines, and the payout values change in proportion to the selected bet. SlotCatalog lists a betting range of 0.10 to 25 per spin. PaytableThe paytable in our screenshots was shown at a 1.00 EUR bet, so the values below are also multiples of the stake:
Five bandits on one line therefore pay 200 times the bet. With only five lines the hits tend to be fewer than on a 20- or 40-line game, which is why the Wild transformation matters so much. Transformed WildsThe feature banner sums it up: “Up to 7 symbols can turn into Wild symbols!” The rules explain that the symbols turn into Wilds sequentially, starting with the symbols with the lowest value. The grey column of symbol portraits on the tree next to the reels appears to track this process. In most of our screenshots the lantern had become a Wild, appearing as a glowing red lamp with the WILD label, while in other spins it was still an ordinary grey lamp. In our last spin a sheriff’s star had turned Wild as well, and three Wilds lined up along the bottom row. With every symbol that transforms, more of the reel set works as a substitute, and the five lines start to connect far more easily. Wins in Our SessionAll our spins were played at a 1.00 EUR bet. The results show how the Wilds help on a five-line game: three sheriff’s stars on the top row with two lantern Wilds below produced 2.00, four ordinary lanterns across the middle row together with three stars paid 2.40, and a spin with two red Wilds and several stars returned 3.20. The best spin in our screenshots paid 4.00, with three Wilds on the bottom line and gold nuggets on a diagonal. GambleAny win can be taken into the Gamble, where the aim is to guess a card higher than the dealer’s. Each successful round applies a win multiplier of x2, x3, x4 or x5; a wrong guess loses the win, and a matching card leaves the winnings unchanged. The Ace is the highest card and can only be beaten by a 2. The maximum possible win in the Gamble is x5000 of the total bet, which matches the promise in the banner. Game Details at a Glance
Stakes and the Top PrizeThe in-game banner and the Gamble rules both put the ceiling at 5,000 times the total bet. SlotCatalog lists a higher figure of x10000, but we follow the numbers the game itself shows. At the maximum stake of 25 the top prize would be worth 125,000, while at the smallest bet of 0.10 it would be 500. The regular paytable is far more modest: five bandits on a line pay 200 times the bet, so the route to the big numbers runs through the Wild transformation, which lets several lines pay at once, and through the Gamble, where every correct guess multiplies the win again. Who Will Enjoy ItYukon Fever is made for players who like compact, classic-style slots with a clear feature to watch. The five lines keep the game easy to follow, the Transformed Wilds give the base game a sense of progress, and the card Gamble lets risk-takers push small wins higher. Players who want free spins or bonus buys will not find them here. Our VerdictA charming, well-drawn gold rush slot that turns a very simple five-line game into something more interesting with its Wild transformation. The 95.52% RTP is a little below average, and the rules tie the x5000 figure to the Gamble, but the snowy Klondike setting and the steady conversion of symbols into Wilds make it a pleasant change from busier modern slots.
