Sugar Town Overview

Sugar Town is a five-reel candy slot from CT Interactive that drops paylines altogether in favour of scatter pays and cascading reels. The studio lists a maximum win of 15,000x and a release date of 30 November 2024.

Two figures are missing from that list. CT Interactive does not publish an RTP or a volatility rating for Sugar Town, so check the information panel inside your casino’s version of the game before you play.

Everything below was read from demo play at a total stake of 8.00.

A Candy Kingdom in Pink

The setting is exactly what the name promises: a pink and lilac sky, soft clouds, giant swirled lollipops planted at the edges of the screen, and a candy castle glowing faintly in the distance. The reels sit in a frame topped with a wafer-style awning.

The symbols are sweets and fruit treated as sweets. There are chocolate-dipped cherries and plums, a watermelon ice lolly, lemon and lime jelly slices, a heart-shaped jelly, and several wrapped candies – an orange twist, a green one, a blue one and a clear crystal sweet.

A banner above the reels keeps reminding the player which symbol is the wild: a small round lollipop followed by the words “IS WILD”.

The demo runs in fun money, with a small badge in the top-right corner of the frame showing a 0.20 coin value next to the word FUN, and a DEMO MODE label under the reels.

How Scatter Pays Work Here

There are no lines to follow. A win is simply a count of matching symbols anywhere on the screen, and the paytable is split into three bands: 5, 6, and 7 or more.

We confirmed the rule on the reels. Five watermelons scattered across different reels and rows paid 2.00; six plums paid 4.00; and the bar beneath the reels showed each winning group as a row of icons with its value, for example six cherries worth 4.00.

Because the counter only cares about quantity, a symbol can pay from the far left and the far right of the grid at the same time. That makes the board easy to read once you stop looking for lines.

The Paytable at an 8.00 Stake

The four fruit symbols – watermelon, lemon and lime, plum and cherry – share one scale: 2.00 for five, 4.00 for six and 20.00 for seven or more.

The orange wrapped candy is worth far more: 4.00, 10.00 and 80.00. The green candy pays 4.00 for five and 10.00 for six, and we saw six crystal sweets return 10.00 as well.

As multiples of the 8.00 stake, the smallest win on the table is a quarter of the bet, while seven or more orange candies pay 10x. The step from six to seven or more is the one that matters – five times over for the fruit, eight times over for the orange candy.

A Note on CT’s Numbers

Many CT Interactive games print their paytables per line, which can make the figures look ten or twenty times larger than they really are against the total bet. Sugar Town does not have that problem.

With no paylines, the values are quoted against the whole stake, and the reels agreed with the table: five watermelons on an 8.00 total bet paid exactly the 2.00 printed for them. What you read on the paytable is what the game pays.

Cascading Reels

Every winning group is removed from the board and new symbols fall into the gaps. If the refill creates another group of five or more, it pays too, and the chain continues until nothing new matches.

That is why the win box often shows a larger number than the group currently highlighted. In one sequence the bar valued the latest cherry group at 4.00 while the running total already stood at 16.00; in another, a plum group worth 4.00 lifted the total to 176.00.

The 176.00 sequence is worth spelling out, because it shows how the two mechanics combine. The spin began with three scatters paying 160.00; the cascade that followed then added a group of plums and further small wins, and the total kept climbing without another spin being bought.

A multiplier readout sits under the bottom-left corner of the reels. It stayed at 1 throughout our spins, so we cannot say from the demo what raises it.

Wilds and Scatters

The lollipop is the wild, and a frosted WILD symbol also appeared on the reels during our play. Wilds substitute for the regular symbols, which matters a great deal in a game where five of a kind anywhere is already a win.

The Scatter is a purple tile with the word written across it. Three of them paid 160.00 on the 8.00 stake – 20x, the biggest single payout we recorded, and more than seven or more of any regular symbol.

The Gamble Feature

Sugar Town uses CT Interactive’s standard card gamble. You can guess the colour of the next card for x2 or its suit for x4, and a strip at the top shows the 10 previous cards dealt.

There is also a 1/2 button, which gambles only half of the current win and banks the rest. We had 64.00 on the line when we opened the screen, and the half-gamble option is the sensible way to use it.

Who Should Play It

Sugar Town is for players who like cascading, pay-anywhere slots and a bright, uncomplicated theme. The rules take seconds to learn, the paytable is honest about what it pays, and the 15,000x ceiling gives the cascades something to reach for.

The reservations are the missing RTP and volatility figures, and the low value of most individual groups – five or six of a fruit symbol barely registers against the stake, so the game depends on chains and scatters.
