Lucky Drums 88 Overview

Lucky Drums 88 is a pay-anywhere slot from Pragmatic Play on a 5x5 grid, with an RTP of 96.53%, a high volatility rating and a maximum win of 20,000x the bet. It was released on 27 August 2026.

Under a very familiar Chinese New Year wrapping, it mixes three mechanics Pragmatic has used separately before: scatter-style pays with tumbling symbols, coins that are stored in two drums between spins, and a Hold & Spin round that can run on two grids at once.

All figures below were read from demo play at a base bet of $240. The rules list a minimum bet of $0.20 and a maximum of $1,200.

Lions, Lanterns and Two Big Drums

The setting is a red temple courtyard. Golden dragons coil up the two pillars that frame the reels, a lion-dance head sits grinning in the bottom right corner, and two large drums – one silver-grey, one red and gold – stand on the roof above the grid, heaped with coins – these are the game’s two feature pots.

The symbols are the standard prosperity set: a pot of gold, a guardian lion statue, a purple lucky charm, a string of red lanterns, and the royals A, K, Q, J and 10 in red and gold. Four jackpot plates run down the left side of the screen.

Pay Anywhere and the Tumble

There are no paylines. The total number of identical symbols on the screen at the end of a spin decides the win, and payouts are grouped into three bands. At our $240 bet, the top band of 12 to 25 symbols paid:

The Tumble feature removes winning symbols after they are paid, lets the rest fall, and fills the gaps from above. It keeps going until no new win appears, with no limit on the number of tumbles. The published hit rate is 27.17%. A base game spin of 10s and Ks in our session paid $192 this way.

The Coin Collection Feature

Silver and Gold coins can land on any reel. Each one flies up to the drum of its own colour, and one of four things happens at random:

The coin can hit the drum and trigger the Hold & Spin feature at once. It can be collected in the drum, which holds up to 8 coins; the count is kept between spins, and when the feature triggers naturally, that many coins are placed on the grid with random values. It can fly back to its position and award a cash prize or a multiplier. Or it can simply disappear and pay nothing.

The cash values run from 0.5x to 1,000x the base bet, taking in the four jackpots: Mini at 10x, Minor at 25x, Major at 100x and Grand at 1,000x – $2,400, $6,000, $24,000 and $240,000 on our screen. The multipliers are x2, x3, x5 or x10; they are stored until the tumbles end and then applied to the win for that spin.

Hold & Spin on One Grid or Two

A Silver coin that triggers the feature opens a Silver 5x3 grid, and a Gold coin opens a Gold 5x3 grid. Only Silver coins and blanks appear on the first, only Gold coins and blanks on the second. If only one grid is active, a Drum symbol can land and switch the other one on as well.

The round starts with 3 respins, and every coin or drum that lands resets the count to 3. Cash coins stay locked to the end. Multiplier coins multiply every cash coin on the screen and then leave it.

When the respins run out, the values of all coins are added up and paid. If either grid is completely filled, an extra 1,000x Grand is added on top – the banner above the reels says as much: “Fill all positions with money coins to win Grand”.

Our first trigger was a Silver one. The grid filled up with coins of $120, $240 and $1,920 plus two Mini plates, with three respins still to go. A later round ran on both grids at once, the Gold side carrying coins of $480 and a Mini of its own, and the session peaked at a $25,440 win, just over 106x the bet.

The Special Bets

The Special Bets panel offers three ante options, each guaranteeing coins on every base game spin. The rules express them as a bet multiplier, with normal play counted as 20x:

RTP and the Max Win

The rules publish a separate return for every mode: 96.53% for normal play, 96.58% with Ante Bet 1, 96.53% with Ante Bet 2, 96.57% with Ante Bet 3 and 96.56% when buying the respins.

Pragmatic also supplies the game to casinos with lower settings of 95.56% and 94.57%, so the figure is worth checking in the rules of the casino you play at. The maximum win is capped at 20,000x; if a respins round reaches it, the round ends immediately and any remaining respins are forfeited.
