Although there are exceptions, most Tiki themed slots out there look more or less the same, and you know pretty much what you’re in for in terms of the visual presentation. Hawaiian Tiki is no exception in that regard, and PG Soft has decided to make a conventional tropical paradise slot, at least when it comes to the outer wrapping. The features are hardly too revolutionary either, but they have added a somewhat original twist to the Expanding Wild feature.

The 3-4-5-5-4-3 grid comes with 3,600 ways to win, which makes larger payouts possible in all stages, but you’re limited by the 2,500x win cap. The more realistic max win is 1,274x your stake, however, as this is what was actually achieved in 1B simulated spins. Wilds remain sticky, as one extra wild is added per cascading win that follows, but wilds only land on reels 3 and 4. Not the most lucrative reels to turn wild, perhaps, and this is a medium volatile mediocrity from Pocket Games Soft.

 

Hawaiian Tiki Slot Features

You win by landing 3 to 6 matching symbols anywhere on adjacent reels from the uttermost left to the right, and the number of winning symbols per reel are multiplied together to give you the total number of winning symbols. The total number of winning symbols are then multiplied by the paytable value that corresponds to the number of reels involved in the win. Winning symbols are removed via the Cascading mechanic, and this goes on as long as you keep winning.

Wild symbols can appear on reels 3 and 4 only, and wilds step in for pay symbols to help complete wins. Whenever you land a win with at least one Wild symbol present on reels 3 and/or 4, the wild or wilds remain frozen in place as one extra wild is placed underneath the bottommost wild per reel. If all bottom positions are filled with wilds already, the extra wild is added above the topmost wild instead.

When either reels are filled with wilds, or when you land a non-winning spin, the wilds are removed for the spin that follows. This also means that no new wild symbols will be added, and the feature is over for this time.

You need 3 scatters in view to trigger the Bonus Round, and this gives you 12 free spins. You get +2 additional free spins on top of that for each additional triggering scatter, and you win +4 extra spins when you land 2 scatter symbols on the same free spin. The Expanding Wild symbol feature is active also during the bonus round, and the free spins round can be retriggered by landing 3 scatters in view.

The mobile friendly developer, Pocket Games (also known as PG Soft), has an impressive production rate, and they keep churning out solid mobile installments for punters who enjoy playing on the go. Hawaiian Tiki is a charming mid-range release in the well-known and popular Tiki genre, and it’s a rather simple game that revolves around a single feature. The visuals are nicely done, but they hardly stick out from many similar slots in this genre.

The idyllic beach setting is still a tempting prospect in the dark winter months though, and wilds keep expanding on reels 3 and 4 as long as you keep winning. The same goes on in the bonus round, and it can lead to payouts up to 1,274x your stake (1 in 1B spins hit rate). PG Soft likes to advertise higher max wins in some cases, which is unfortunate, and the advertised potential in this game is 2,500x your stake. Hawaiian Tiki is far from the best we’ve seen from this developer, but it will lift your spirit on a rainy day.
