Deep in the Jungle

The reels sit inside a wooden frame decorated with tusks, vines and tropical flowers, with a thick jungle painted behind them. The base game is played in daylight; when the coin bonus starts, the sky turns purple and a storm rolls in, which makes it easy to tell at a glance which mode you are in.

The symbols are the animals of the forest – crocodile, tiger, a purple hippo and a lemur – plus royal letters for the low values. The golden gorilla is the wild, and the four fixed jackpots are stacked in a column on the left side of the screen at all times.

Among the animals, the crocodile pays 500.00 (10x), 100.00 and 30.00; the tiger 400.00 (8x), 80.00 and 30.00; the hippo 300.00 (6x), 60.00 and 10.00; and the lemur 200.00 (4x), 50.00 and 10.00. The A and K pay 80.00, 30.00 and 10.00 for five, four and three.

The paytable is steep at the top and flat at the bottom. Five crocodiles are worth more than six full lines of letters, and the wild pays more than any animal, so most of the line value comes from stacks of gorillas meeting the two or three best animals on reels 1 and 2.

All 25 lines are always active, wins pay from left to right starting on the leftmost reel, and only the highest win per line is paid.

Stacked Gorillas in the Base Game

The gorilla wild regularly lands in stacks. In one of our spins a column of gorillas on reel 3 linked purple Q symbols on reels 1, 2 and 4 across several lines, which paid 420.00 (8.4x). In another, two gorillas on reel 2 joined crocodiles on reels 1 and 3 for 120.00.

These wild-driven line hits are the steady part of the game. The bigger prizes come from the coins.

Coins and the Boost Symbol

Gold coin symbols carrying cash values land on the reels during normal spins – we saw 50.00, 150.00, 200.00, 500.00 and 750.00. On their own they do nothing; they wait for the gorilla BOOST symbol.

When BOOST lands, it collects every coin on the screen. In our session a Boost with coins of 750.00, 150.00 and 200.00 in view produced a BOOST WIN of 1,100.00 (22x) – exactly the sum of the three coins.

The Boost symbol can also carry a jackpot label. We landed one marked MAJOR next to a 500.00 coin, and the game played the MAJOR jackpot animation on top of the collection – the MAJOR is worth 5,000.00 (100x) at this bet, so a labelled Boost can pay a jackpot straight from the base game.

The Coin Bonus

Enough coins trigger the hold-and-win style bonus. The reels clear of everything except coins, and the round runs on a 3-respin counter; coins that land stay locked in place for the rest of the round.

Above the reels a small reel of prizes turns as well – in our round it showed MINI, 750.00 and MINI – and it can drop an extra prize onto the grid. Next to the GRAND label a counter tracks how many of the 20 positions are filled; our round reached 10/20. With a 5x4 grid of exactly 20 positions, the counter shows how close you are to a full screen and the GRAND.

Choosing a Stake

Because the jackpots are fixed multiples, the stake decides their cash value. At the minimum bet of 0.25 the MINI is worth 5.00, the MAJOR 25.00 and the GRAND 500.00. At the maximum of 75 per spin the same ladder reads 1,500 for the MINI, 7,500 for the MAJOR and 150,000 for the GRAND.
