Carnival of Venice

Carnival of Venice Overview

Carnival of Venice is a masked-ball slot from KA Gaming, released on 24 January 2024. It plays on a classic 5x3 grid with 30 fixed paylines, and stakes run from 0.30 to 150 per spin. KA Gaming has not published an RTP, a volatility rating or a maximum win for this title, and SlotCatalog lists all three as N/A, so everything below comes from our own rounds in the demo.

A Carnival on the Canals

The reels sit in a gilded frame in the middle of Venice: palazzo facades rise on both sides, dancers in orange gowns crowd the street in the base game, and the free games move to a golden canal with gondolas moored along the water. Panels marked 30 LINES flank the grid in the base game and switch to FREE GAME when the bonus is running.

The symbols follow the theme. The premium set is a row of carnival masks – a green feathered mask, a blue lace mask, a plague-doctor beak and a gold mask with a painted face – plus the Venetian lion flag. The low symbols are A, K, Q, J and 10 in bright jewel colours.

The Masked Lady Wild

The most important symbol is the lady in the purple gown with a fan, marked WILD. In every screenshot where she appears she covers the whole of the first reel, top to bottom, so any line that starts on reel one begins with a wild. SlotCatalog lists a nudge feature for this game, which fits what we saw: the lady always ends up filling the reel rather than sitting on a single row.

Because every line has to start on reel one, a full wild there is the best thing the base game can give you – it turns every symbol on reels two and three into the start of a possible winning line.

What Our Spins Showed

We played at a $30 total bet, which is $1 per line across the 30 lines, and the win messages above the reels show exactly which line paid.

A small win first: line 3 paid $5 for a row of Js, and the spin as a whole returned $15. With the lady filling reel one, the numbers grew quickly: one base spin showed line 22 wins $25 and a total of $150 – five times the stake from a spin built mostly on Ks and a single wild reel.

The Gondolier Scatter

The scatter is a gondolier standing in his boat, marked SCATTER. Three of them anywhere on the reels paid $60 on their own – 2x the total bet – and started the bonus. The next screen confirmed the prize: “You won 10 free games”.

The Free Games

The free games run on the same 30 lines with the lady wild still in play, and the counter at the bottom shows how many spins are left. Our round started strongly: with 9 free games still to go, a MEGA WIN of $450 landed – 15 times the stake – with line 2 alone paying $150 for a row of As. By the time the counter had dropped to 5, the total bonus win had reached $700, or about 23x the bet, and the next spin added another $125 with line 21 paying $15.

SlotCatalog also lists respins among the features. We did not see a separate respin round in our screenshots, so we cannot describe how it triggers.

Controls and Layout

The control bar is simple. The current win, the total bet and the balance sit along the bottom, with a NEW BET button to change the stake and a MAX BET shortcut next to the spin button, which can be held down to start autoplay. During the bonus the spin button turns red and shows the number of free games left, and a TOTAL BONUS WIN field keeps a running tally of the round, so you always know where the feature stands.

The Numbers

With RTP, volatility and maximum win unpublished, the useful figures are the ones we could see: a $5 three-of-a-kind on a $1 line, a 2x scatter pay, 10 free games per trigger and a bonus round that passed 23x before it was half over. The first reel is where the game is decided – when the lady fills it, lines pay far more often.

More From KA Gaming

KA Gaming covers a huge range of themes. Gypsy Fusion Reels turns the grid into a changing ways engine, and Dragon Pearl is a classic line slot where the wild doubles every line it completes.

Who It Is For

Carnival of Venice is for players who like a straightforward 30-line slot with one strong feature. The masked lady on reel one does the heavy lifting in both the base game and the bonus, the scatter pays before the free games even start, and the carnival setting is handsome without getting in the way. The lack of published RTP and volatility figures is the one thing to keep in mind.
