Captain Lobster Overview

Sailing to the Islands

The reels sit inside a wooden frame on a sunny beach, with palm trees, blue water and two seagulls perched on the sign above. The captain himself – a red lobster in a sailor’s cap – stands at the ship’s wheel to the left of the reels. The premium symbols are a treasure chest, a lighthouse, an anchor and a set of buoys, and the low symbols are the card ranks A, K, Q and J plus 10 and 9 in bright candy colours.

NetGame’s own figures show a hit frequency of 27.2%, a feature about once in 158 spins and a big win about once in 82.

The Paytable

The paytable shows cash values for the current bet. At 10.00 FUN, five treasure chests pay 37.50 (3.75x), four pay 12.50 and three pay 6.00. The lighthouse pays 15.00, 7.50 and 3.00, the anchor 10.00, 5.00 and 1.50, and the buoys 7.50, 3.00 and 1.50.

The card ranks pay 5.00, 2.50 and 1.00 for A and K, and 3.00, 1.50 and 1.00 for Q and J. Only the highest win per line is paid, and all lines pay from left to right.

The Lobster Wild and the Seashells

The lobster wild appears in the central position only – the middle row of reel 3. It substitutes for all symbols, and it also unlocks the seashells. Seashells can land on any reel except the central one, and each carries a cash value or a jackpot label. When the wild lands, it collects the values of the seashells on screen.

The game also has a rewind step: non-winning symbols can be swapped for seashells and/or the wild. The wild can only be rewound onto the central reel, and seashells onto any other reel.

In one capture the wild landed next to a single MINOR seashell, and the counter below the reels read SEASHELL: 120.00 – exactly the Minor jackpot at our bet.

Common and Rare Symbols

NetGame describes the symbol set as a wild, the seashell “spheres”, four rare symbols and six common ones. The four rare symbols are the treasure chest, lighthouse, anchor and buoys; the six common ones are A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9. The gap between them is not large – the best rare symbol pays 3.75x for five, the best common one 0.5x – so the line wins mostly keep the balance ticking over while the seashells supply the bigger amounts.

The rules page also carries the usual fine print: all 40 lines pay from left to right, only the highest win per line is paid, and malfunctions void all pays and plays.

Four Fixed Jackpots

The jackpots are printed on the left of the screen and scale with the bet. At 10.00 FUN they read MINI 50.00, MINOR 120.00, MAJOR 1,500.00 and GRAND 20,000.00 – that is 5x, 12x, 150x and 2,000x the stake. They are fixed rather than progressive, and they arrive on seashells like any other value.

Free Spins

The wild can also trigger the free spins bonus. Our round began with a congratulations screen: “You won 6 free spins”. During the round the scene changes to a purple dusk, and the anchors become the key symbol alongside the seashells.

The Rewind Feature

NetGame lists the Rewind Feature as one of the game’s two headline features, next to free spins. In practice it is a second chance on a spin that would otherwise pay little: symbols that are not part of a win can be swapped, so a screen that showed only a few seashells can end with more of them, or with the wild in the middle position that is needed to collect them.

Because the wild is locked to one position, the rewind matters most on spins where the seashells are already in place but the centre of reel 3 is empty. When the lobster lands there, every seashell value on screen, including any jackpot label, is added to the win.

What the Session Did

The base game showed how the seashells work outside the bonus. A spin with buoys stacked across the screen paid 24.00, and another with three K symbols and a MINI shell next to the central wild paid 61.00 (6.1x). Over the session the balance moved between roughly 579 FUN and 1,421 FUN.
