Age of Rome Overview

Age of Rome is a five-reel, three-row slot from Foxi (Fazi) with 20 paylines, a 96.5% RTP, a high volatility rating and a published ceiling of 14,000x. It was released on 30 March 2025.

All figures below were read from demo play at a 50.00 bet, which makes the paytable directly readable as multiples.

Outside the Colosseum

The reels stand in front of the Colosseum under a blue sky, with market awnings and standards along the bottom of the screen. When the free spins begin the view moves inside the arena and columns of fire rise on both sides of the grid.

The symbols are a legionary in a red cloak as the wild, the Colosseum itself, a chariot, a crested helmet, a round shield, crossed swords, a gold BONUS coin with Caesar’s head on it, and card ranks.

The Wild Multiplies by Two, Four, Eight or Sixteen

This is the mechanic, and the paytable states it exactly: Wild symbol substitutes all symbols except the Bonus symbol. Wins are multiplied by 2, 4, 8 or 16, depending on how many times the WILD substitutes on the line (1 to 4 times).

So the multiplier is not random and it is not a separate symbol – it is a doubling ladder driven by how much of the line the legionary had to fill in. One wild doubles, two quadruple, three multiply by eight, and four wilds on a line multiply the win sixteenfold.

That also tells you what to hope for. A line with four wilds and one paying symbol is worth more than a line of five ordinary symbols on almost every rung of the table.

The Paytable

At the 50.00 bet the wild itself pays 250,000.00 for five – 5,000x – then 3,000.00, 2,000.00 and 1,000.00 for two, which is 20x.

The Colosseum pays 10,000.00 for five (200x) and also pays from two. The chariot pays 4,000.00 (80x), the helmet 1,600.00 (32x) and the shield 1,200.00 (24x).

Then the floor: crossed swords and A/K pay 400.00 for five (8x), Q/J 200.00 (4x), and three of a kind on any of those is 50.00 – one times the stake.

Note the shape of that table. Three symbols pay from two of a kind, and the wild’s five-symbol line at 5,000x is more than twenty times the next best. On this game the legionary is not a helper, he is the prize.

Ten Free Spins and a Sticky Win

The trigger is printed on the paytable too: Three scattered Bonus symbols trigger the Bonus game with 10 Free Spins and a Sticky Win feature. One capture catches the three Caesar coins landing across the middle of the grid.

Inside the round the counter sits in a red disc on the right – the captures show 2 and then 1 free spin remaining – and the wilds arrive stacked on the right-hand reels.

What it was worth is the best number on this page. On the last spin of the round the grid shows a win of 2,150.00 while the footer reads WIN 7,400.00 – the round’s running total. Against the 50.00 stake that is 148x.

The cash balance confirms it from the other side: 494,900.00 when the bonus symbols landed and 501,350.00 when the round finished.

The Round Has One Price

The BUY BONUS panel is a single card rather than a ladder of tiers: 10 FREE SPINS for 5,000.00 CASH, with a BET selector underneath reading 50.00 and one green BUY button. That is 100x the stake.

Set the two numbers side by side and this is one of the better-priced buys we have measured: the ticket costs 100x and the captured round returned 148x. One round is not a sample, but it is at least the right order of magnitude – several games in recent batches charge 200x to 800x for rounds that paid less.

The panel is drawn inside the arena, which is also where the round itself takes place – a small touch, but it makes the purchase feel like a decision about where you are going rather than a menu item.

What the Base Game Paid

The base captures are respectable rather than spectacular. A stacked wild on the fifth reel with a run of aces returned 850.00 – 17x. A column of three wilds on the first reel with kings and jacks returned 500.00 – 10x.

A third capture shows two Colosseums paying on their own, which at 1,000.00 is the 20x two-of-a-kind rung doing exactly what the table promises.

The Card Gamble

Wins can be gambled, and Fazi’s version is a proper card game rather than a coin flip. A single card is dealt face up – the ace of diamonds in the capture – with a black club button on one side and a red heart on the other.

The two figures are stated plainly: CURRENT WIN 1,000.00 and GAMBLE TO WIN 2,000.00, with a COLLECT button in the corner. So it is a straight double-or-nothing on the colour.

Above the card runs a five-card history strip showing the previous results in red and black, which is the honest way to present it: the strip tells you what has happened, and the game does not pretend it predicts what comes next.

The Interface

A BUY BONUS button sits in the top-right corner, with a spin key, an autoplay ring and a lightning turbo key below it. The footer carries CASH, the win field and a BET selector with minus and plus.

A round badge on the left edge reads 2 in the base captures – the studio’s stake-level indicator, which is worth checking before reading any figure as a multiple.

Who Should Play It

Age of Rome is for players who want a straightforward Roman slot with one genuinely well-designed mechanic. The 2/4/8/16 wild ladder is easy to understand and rewards exactly what it should, three symbols paying from two keeps the base game ticking, and the free spins produced 148x in a single captured round.

The reservations are the card ranks paying a flat 1x for three and a wild-led paytable that leaves the rest of the symbols looking ornamental. Five of the eight paying symbols top out at 32x or less.

One note for the library: five of our six partner casinos list this title under Foxi, the studio’s new identity, while SunClub still carries the old Fazi name.
