Yommi Rush Overview

Yommi Rush is a BGaming cluster-pays game played on an 8x8 grid of sweets, and its defining feature is a small population of green fuzzy monsters – the Yommies – who sit on the board carrying multipliers. Land a winning cluster next to them and their values are added together and applied to the win. Not multiplied together, added: three Yommies reading x16, x8 and x13 produce a x37 multiplier, and the demo confirms it to the cent.

Everything else about the game follows from that. The paytable is unusually demanding, the free spins round is where the Yommies accumulate, and the buy menu sells access to monsters rather than to spins.

Theme and Graphics

The whole game is staged on the floor of a child's bedroom, seen from directly above. The grid sits on a wooden floor surrounded by flat-packed cardboard boxes, a games controller, a potted plant, a corner of a sofa and a warm lamp glowing in the top right. The Grid and Cluster Sizes

Clusters are formed from adjacent matching symbols anywhere on the 8x8 board, and this is where Yommi Rush is stricter than most of its genre: a cluster has to reach seven symbols before it pays anything at all. Most cluster games start paying at five, and some at four.

The bands above that are 7–8, 9–11, 12–14, 15–19, 20–24 and 25+. Six bands is a fine-grained ladder, and it means the difference between an eight-symbol cluster and a nine-symbol one is a real jump rather than a rounding difference – the lollipop, for instance, goes from 5.00 to 50.00 on that single extra symbol. The shape of that ladder is worth pausing on. From the 20–24 band to the 25+ band every symbol multiplies tenfold – the lollipop goes from 500.00 to 5,000.00, the star from 437.50 to 4,375.00. Every other step on the table is a doubling or less. A 25-symbol cluster is not the next rung up; it is a different prize.

At the 25.00 stake that top lollipop cluster is worth 200x the bet, which is a tenth of the game's published ceiling. The rest has to come from the monsters.

The Yommies and Their Multipliers

Yommies land on the board carrying a multiplier – x1 and x2 at first, climbing into double figures as a round develops. When a cluster pays, the values of the Yommies attached to it are summed and applied to the base prize. That is an important distinction. If the multipliers were combined the way most games combine them – by multiplying – three monsters at x16, x8 and x13 would produce a x1,664 multiplier and break the game in a single spin. Adding them keeps the numbers large but survivable, and it makes a fourth monster worth a predictable amount rather than an explosive one.
