Penalty Duel OverviewPenalty Duel is not a slot. It is a BGaming arcade title – SlotCatalog files it under “other types” – running a 96.14% RTP with medium volatility and a maximum win of 4,860x the bet. All the figures below were read from demo play at 50.00 and 0.50 stakes. Theme and GraphicsThe setting is a beach in Rio: Sugarloaf mountain on the skyline, a strip of apartment blocks behind the sand, palm trees, and a yellow camper van with GOAL painted down the side and a sound system on the roof. Two women in bikinis stand either side of the posts as an audience of exactly two. It is bright, cartoonish and entirely unserious, and it loads in a fraction of the time a reel game takes because there is no reel set to build. Two Games in One★ The single most important thing about Penalty Duel is the pair of icons in the bottom-left corner: a boot and a pair of goalkeeper gloves. They switch the game between two completely different modes, and most descriptions of this title only cover the first. Pick the boot and you are the striker: the goal fills the screen, the keeper stands on his line, and you choose where to shoot. Pick the gloves and the camera swings around – you are now in goal, the striker is a small figure at the far end of the pitch, and you choose where to dive. Both modes take the same bet field and both pay by multiplier, but the numbers on offer are not remotely similar. Shooting: The Nine ZonesIn striker mode the goal mouth is divided into nine target zones, each printed with its multiplier. In the captures they read x12, x6 and x15 across the top, x3 and x3 either side of the keeper in the middle, and x8, x4 and x9 along the bottom. The pattern is exactly what you would expect from watching real penalties: the top corners are worth the most, the ground in front of the keeper the least, and the top-right zone at x15 is the hardest target on the board. One capture catches a successful shot – keeper stretched flat on the sand, ball rolling into the right-hand side netting – with WIN 150.00 FUN against the 50.00 bet. That is the x3 zone paying exactly as printed. Keeping: The Floating TilesGoalkeeper mode replaces the nine fixed zones with ten multiplier tiles scattered across the pitch, and the values are much lower: x1.2, x1.3, x1.5, x1.5, x1.9, x2, x2, x2.1, x2.3 and x2.5. A save in the captures paid 0.65 FUN on a 0.50 bet – the x1.3 tile, to the cent. ★ So the two modes are not a cosmetic choice. Shooting offers up to 15x on a single attempt; keeping tops out at 2.5x. The trade is presumably in how often each one succeeds, and the difference is large enough that you should pick a mode deliberately rather than by preference. The Chance x5 Side BetA yellow button marked CHANCE x5 sits to the right of the ball, with its own price underneath: 25.00 FUN at the 50.00 stake, and 0.25 FUN at the 0.50 one. It costs exactly half the bet, and the bar above the total cost field fills in red when it is armed. The bet display makes the arithmetic explicit: BET 50.00 FUN above TOTAL COST 75.00 FUN. That is an honest piece of interface design. A great many games with a side bet show only the boosted total; this one shows both numbers, one above the other, every spin. The Bonus BuyBeside the side bet sits a BONUS BUY button priced at 5,000.00 FUN against the 50.00 stake – 100x the bet. Against a 4,860x ceiling that is a steep but not absurd price, and it is worth noting that the button is absent in goalkeeper mode. The bonus belongs to the striker. What the Session ProducedThe balance ran 1,000.00 at the start, dipped to 900.73, then jumped to 2,603.43 – a rise of roughly 1,700 across a handful of shots at the 50.00 stake – before settling around 2,275.00. The later goalkeeper captures, taken at the 0.50 stake, move the balance in single cents: 2,275.00 to 2,274.31 to 2,273.50 to 2,272.65. That is the mode working as advertised – small stakes, small multipliers, very little variance. The 1.31 Hit FrequencySlotCatalog lists a hit frequency of 1.31 for this title, which reads strangely until you remember it is not a reel game. There are no ways, lines or clusters here – each round is a single binary event, and the figure describes how often a round resolves in your favour rather than how often symbols align. Who Should Play ItPenalty Duel suits players who want something quick between slot sessions and like the idea of aiming rather than spinning. The two modes give it more depth than the usual crash or dice game, the multiplier grid is honest about which targets are hard, and the 96.14% RTP is respectable for the format. It is also very thin. There are no symbols to learn, no pay table to read, and once you have seen both modes there is nothing further to discover. Treat it as a diversion, not a main event. Where to Play Penalty DuelWe checked all six of our partner casinos on 18 September 2026 and none of them carried Penalty Duel – several stock more than a dozen other penalty-themed titles, but not this one. The demo above is BGaming’s own and runs the complete game with both modes, the side bet and the bonus buy, so you can try it without an account. Casino catalogues change frequently, and we will update this section if it appears. |
